I've got an idea.

IMHO, politics aren't really constructive to our main agenda here. They are divisive and everyone is passionate about their opinion. That is normal.

I don't dislike Todd or Kris because of our differences. I don't see either one of you guys as having a harmful bone in your body. And the greater aspect of this forum is that it has had a solid foundation of building people up, giving support and incentive.

As I've said before I have many different political and spiritual ideas in my immediate family, yet we all get along, help each other and edify each other - we just keep our politics to ourselves with the understanding that each of us just wants to have peace in their lives and sometimes need support to find drive, incentive and acceptance,

We live in a volatile world, but as I mentioned to Todd and I think he agrees with me - all we want is security, safety, liberty and peace, we just have different ideas as to how to achieve that. It's normal. There are issues families can't agree on at the dinner table much less as a country or world community. And before politics became the hot topics of this forum I felt everyone had a great respect for everyone else.

We all have goal and that is to edify ourselves through music. I admire all the instructors here for their abilities and I wish to keep it that way.

Music is our common bond - we are a brotherhood, a support system of musicians - not politicians. I am a moderator of another forum which deals with all this stuff - even the flat earth theory - and this forum has been a refreshing sanctuary from that.

I was just outside watching my wife tend to her garden which she has nurtured as a child for years now. She never talks a cross word to anyone and keeps her politics to herself - her love from others is too great to create a divide among friends and family and as I watched her, I admired her humble strength, and envied her character.

Can we go back to being a family of musicians and helping each other? We all have political ideas. We could argue what's better, pizza or quiche, but in the how is that going to help us respect each other?

I wish to respect everyone here. I want to feel joy as I watch people get closer to their goals. I don't want get caught up in political disputes - and I get so much of that, that I find it very difficult not to inject my views and rationale when the subjects arise.

For this website - would it not be better to form a bond? And how can we form that bond if we try to discuss something as clusterfucked as politics?

Breeze - you have gotten so much better in the time you have been here. I've watched and admired your dedication. I've admired the way Todd teaches and inspires students during his live feeds. I've thoroughly enjoyed Kris' humor in videos and song writers - and I sit in awe at the ability of Ben, Gabe and Darius.

I wish we could put the past week of polishit behind us and become a community set on a common goal.

Just my 2 cents - I would rather keep the peace and refrain from such personal and adversary views.

So - for this forum, I'm bowing out of those. Back to normal. I don't need anything else that may possibly make me dread guitar from a sick feeling in my stomach because of thinking of arguments on this forum.

If anyone would enjoy to argue politics - I welcome you to become a member at Disclose.tv where we argue this junk constantly - although my main interest on that site pertains to the supernatural topics. But can we make this website a refuge from the shit in the world? A brotherhood or sorts.

I'm sorry if I pissed anyone off on a personal level.

Spock out on the political threads. Long live and prosper.

Sounds good to me smile.gif I'm not one to tell folks what they can and can't talk about but I'm much more interested in Music than Politics in general smile.gif

I must say, it's sometimes hard for me to let some posts go by and I"ve even started initiating posts of late, which was probably just a very bad idea in hindsight, as I think you are spot on in saying that this is a place best kept for discussing truly important things, like Music smile.gif

I also hope you are in jest when you say there is a flat earth forum? But if not, then I will let that go as well. After all, folks have every right to believe whatever they like. It takes all kinds to fill up a bus as they say smile.gif

LOL - there are actually a few members of that forum that will argue until they are blue in the face that the earth is flat. But 99.99% of the people understand there are very unstable and fanciful people on an international website that deals with everything from NWO, paranormal, conspiracies, politics and religion - the list goes on.

Well said, Spock. I would have no problem at all in not discussing politics here at GMC and I was surprised when the first one that I saw here popped up.
I watched it for a few days all the while wondering why it was here and after watching it for a while longer, I decided to make a post and suggested that maybe these types of threads are more suited to a political forum which there are many and not a forum for musicians . As time went on I started seeing more of these political threads pop up and it seemed like they were pretty one sided so eventually I just couldn't help myself I guess. That is a decision that I regret and I should have went with my gut instinct that told me that getting involved in these types of threads was a bad idea.

I haven't taken part in any political forums elsewhere, nor have I ever started a political thread here, but I have read through some from time to time and one thing that I think we can agree to is that these forums have been far more civil than most of the political forums or even comment sections of various news articles. I do fear that this is changing though and possibly some damage has been done already in regards to the respect and comradery that was evident when I first joined GMC.

So I too respectfully apologize to anyone I may have offended and I will join Spock in abstaining from these threads and get back on the path of being a brotherhood of international musicians from beginner to pro.

That's really cool of you to say dude, much appreciated. It gets frustrating sometimes when progress feels mind numbingly slow!

Everyone from the last political thread should jump into Todd's Saturday shred challenge. It's been ages since ive been in a collab type thing with Spock and rich smile.gif

I just saw Todd's series yesterday for the first time from a post Fran started. I'm thinking I need to start that from exercise 1.

All are welcome in fact. smile.gif We have some great takes by many folks and all that is required is that you play along with the backing and record yourself using anything from a cell phone, to a web cam, to anything you like really. Then upload to youtube and share. That's it smile.gif No file submissions, no waiting, just play and bam smile.gif
