I have seen lately a lot of threads showing guys shreding and making world records at unbelivable speeds. I honestly preffer a good slow solo with lots of feeling , there is no world record to beat with a solo like that. So I invite you to post your favourite slow solos in this thread.
Here goes mine:

True. You don't need speed when you got feeling ^^
Gary Moore is full of these solos. An example is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hapJe1qeVZs&

The solo from "While my guitar gently weeps" with Eric Clapton playing is quite good.

It's one of the most beautiful songs ever made by a mortal man
Another extremely good slower solo is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFUW621lgXY&feature=related.
I get goosebumps when I see how much he's into the music

I love Marooned (PF), and there is one old music solo that always come to my mind... the ones from Winds of Change music (Scorpions).
there is another one that was the intro sound of my computer for a long time that is the one from one Alice in chains song... , the song is named Sunshine.
Let me find if they are in youtube videos...

The solos of "Time" and "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd are indeed great.

It´s not totally slow, but I´d say "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd.
There´s amazing feeling into it.

Thanks for the link. How in the world I did not know this guy before? Simply amazing....
That´s the reason why it is dangerous to make a "greatest guitarist" list: it simply changes every day...

Gilmour in "Comfortably Numb".
Second place: anything else with Gilmour

Still got the blues does it for me. The intro and all the other variations. Someone told me how to play it, easy to play, but hard to play with all the feeling. After he told me how to play it, I couldn't stop I still play the intro at least once a week

Comfortably Numb and November Rain
As you can see, in my opinion November Rain and Comfortably Numb have great solos... but, I think I prefer Comfortably Numb solo a bit
Posted by: Darfuria Aug 3 2008, 03:00 AM
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Guns n Roses - November Rain
Bon Jovi - Bed of Roses (what a crazy build up to that solo! The second section, which begins with a blues lick, actually makes my body tense up)
Dream Theater - The Spirit Carries On
Posted by: Déjà vu Aug 3 2008, 03:31 AM
My favorite slow solo is probably Shawn Lane's transcription of "Once Upon a Time in the West". One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard played on a guitar (Hands down)... And it's the only guitar song that made me feel a lump in my throat.
Look for it on Youtube.

There are too many great slow solo out there. But what I'm listening lately is THIS ONE!
Marcel Coenen : Moyra
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4s9U1C4Wgz4
This solo is really great with feeling and wonderful tone PLUS a shreddy ending.
Of course, Mesa Boogie makes the difference here ! HEHE

Comfortably Numb - Floyd
Hey You - Floyd
And wouldn't call it slow, buts it's played with a clean guitar and is just brialliant --
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
