Guys, I am not a Slayer fan, but I respect people that made important landmarks in the history of music. This dude, was one of them. It seems that the cause of his death was at least strange - he died because of complications that appeared due to a spider bite, after two years of intense therapy and treatment. First Chino and then him...

Just heard about it this morning...it's always sad to see a great musician die, especially since he wasn't really old.

I saw the news about 5 mins ago, like Slavenko I also thought it must have been a joke. I'm quite shocked by this. Very sad.

Very sad news. Jeff Hanneman was one of my early guitar heroes. I always liked the songs he wrote for Slayer best.

although I am not the biggest slayer fan it is very sad that he died.....
and it was not for drugs or alcohol it was a stupid spider bite!

time to listen to some slayer now....

I read this at about 3 am EST. I check out twitter from people like Slash who post a lot on there and Slash always has posts for things like this as well as most other musically related topics in case anyone follows those sorts of things. Slash and Scott Ian post a lot on there.

Anyhow, I was quite shocked as well.... especially due to the cause of death.

That is going to be a deep wound like the passing of Dime, and I believe though extremely different causes, both are/were a shock indeed.

RIP Jeff.

Sadly it turns out a spider was not actually the culprit ...

Yeah.. I read it on the news on a metal e-zine... I was really feeling sorry for the dude.. Now, not that much.
