Finally at the stage to buy an RG and the one I want which is pretty much exactly what I've been after is available used.
Problem is the guy won't do paypal and I'm wary of sending money via a bank transfer to a stranger in Finland! -------------------- My SoundCloud

We have a thing in the states called a 'money order'. It's essentially a check that is made out to the recipient via a bank or the post office (even some retail outlets). You give the shop the money and they give you this money order and you send the money to the seller.
Also, Western Union wire transfers of funds. Same thing really but WU sends it electronically. Typically there's a small fee for both. Maybe ask the bank if they've ever had issues with Finland - ? -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

It's a case of trust.
I can send money via my bank but he could quite easily not send me the guitar or the guitar isn't in the condition promised etc. I can paypal him the money which gives me protection but gives me the power to open a dispute over a period of 180 days for a refund should I say I didn't receive the guitar, or it is broken etc. Neither option is great for 2 strangers in two different countries. I could opt for him sending it via UPS which gives him more proof of delivery but that would cost €150 for a €750 guitar -------------------- My SoundCloud

Yeah its risky, as you mention even if he were trust worthy the guitar could have a problem he might even not realize.

Well after all I've said, it has been brought to my attention from another member of The Gear Page that the seller is also a longtime member, an established guitar teacher and to some extent trustworthy. The fact that he was also selling it locally gives me some confidence. So wish me luck...

The nice thing is that he agreed to pack the guitar how I wanted, (unfortunately it doesn't come with a case) but it will be gig bag, bubble wrap, cardboard box, bubble wrap, cardboard box.
I'll wait until I receive the guitar to post pictures, I don't want to jinx anything. Apparently rumour has it this model got the left over JPM model necks after Pettruci left Ibanez. He's also selling a beautiful Candy Red drip Suhr Modern for €1850 if anyone is interested! -------------------- My SoundCloud
