Check this guy out.

Even though he has like 3 tons of reviews on I believe every piece of gear on his channel he also happens to be guitar teacher - im this lesson he teaches (for me) totally unknown technique:D What do you think?

I played this 10 years ago smile.gif Yngwie Malmsteen introduced it. Check his "Echo Etude". You need to set your delay on the 3/4 of the beat with only 1 repeat and you have to play in exact tempo. That's how you get that.

To embed youtube just copy the "embed" link from youtube on the right side of the video and paste it here

Emir is right. This kind of technique Yngwie has been using it live I think since early 90's.
The guy nailed just perfect though smile.gif

I think that Nuno Bettencourts instrumental "Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee" from the Extreme album "Pornograffitti" uses the same technique (or at least a similar technique)

Yes a pedal can be used, but I believe doing it this way is more fun

Try it with pedal but I think it'll be actually a lot harder that way. smile.gif

I think Steve Morse is way better, and he did this in the 70's

It seems like it would be alot easier to alternate pick if you didnt have to anchor your pinky on the volume knob...

he is alternate picking right?

maybe not... I'm not sure! dry.gif

And here I thought I was gonna go old-school by posting EVH's early-80's Cathedral... but never knew Morse was doing it back in the 70's! Great video Peixe! I've always liked Morse but for some reason there's just something that keeps me from truly embracing his sound/songwriting/playing.

Anyhow, this thread wouldn't be complete without Cathedrals... his volume pot is scratchy... but it's the oldest vid of it I could find on the 'tube.
