Lately I've been digging Kansas music.

I love their Progressive Rock music with Bluesy solos.

Untill like a couple of weeks ago, I must admit I thought Kansas was just a Folk Band, because I had only Heard "Dust in the wind"

Their Singer Steve Walsh has such a Powerful Tenor voice. Here are some of my Favorite Songs from them.

Gen showed them to me a few days ago, and I really like it. Haven't heard much though, but what I heard has only been amazing.

The violin player looks like Dimebag Darrell blink.gif
Can't judge the band, because I don't know much of them, but it seems a little bit too oldschool for my taste wink.gif

Yeah, well these are like their Really Old songs from the 70's, Gen knows alot more of there songs, I know that During the 80's for a few years They had the Great guitarist Steve Morse as a member, so the songs had a more shred style guitar in them.

I think we had a band named after every State in the Union at one time there in the late 70's early 80's. I saw Kansas and yes a band named Missouri in the middle of a field out by the local Airport in like 82ish. It's all a little fuzzy.

And now we hear from Missouri. Even if they liked the band Kansas, they would hate them.

Here is a view of this band's first Album. A primitive painting that hangs in the state capital. The members of the band were from Topeka, where the state capital is, just 20 miles west of here. The big guy in the painting is John Brown, more than anyone else responsible for precipitating the Civil war. He and his sons hacked 5 slavers to death with broadswords just south of here. Missouri ruffians came to Lawrence and burned the town down in 1863, murdering 200, probably some in my front yard. The civil war actually was fought here before anywhere else, in the 1850s.

I agree with you, Slammer. Kansas was an incredible band. Steve Walsh had one of the best voices in rock, and all the players were excellent. The songs carried positive messages in a progressive rock vein. I'm going off on a tangent here...I always liked a guitar/keyboard rock lineup anyway, because so much more can be done with keyboards. Guitar players benefit greatly from jamming with keyboard guys, because of the sophisticated nature of the keyboard instruments. You can learn really cool chord voicings and single line ideas from a keyboard guy who is usually more 'schooled' than the average guitarist. And, the guitar player is allowed more freedom to 'take off' because of the strong rythym that can be had from keys. Examples include; Toto, Dream Theater, Kansas, Deep Purple, Return To Forever, Yes, and I can't think of anybody else right now...I don't think there are enough of those bands...call it Progressive Rock.
