I like that interesting inspired by Holdswotrh playing direction You choose. I think someday You could be on the top list of the 8 string players who don't play djent I think You know this already but there is still a need of precision practice - There were some issues with buzzing notes (fiunger didn't press equally through whole the ringing time. Aslo You might try to reconsider You left hand position at some points - where You get some noise from strings that are not in use

Not an easy task. I was experimenting with some "more than 6" guitars and as far as I'm not a "fret wrap kinda guy" I felt pretty confused about having 100% control of all muting with that many strings. So I'll hold my thumbs and keep up the good work!

Your playing is impressive as well as the writing my only gripe is that I can barely hear it. Your playing clean but it sounds like you are in serious need of a software plugin that has a compressor/expander/gate/chorus/delay/flange etc. just to accentuate the strikes and chordality. Not saying go crazy with fx just use them to expound upon what your playing. It's so clean that some of it sounds like it's getting lost. Have you picked a fav plugin yet? Sgear, Amplitude, Overloud, Guitar Rig, etc. There's no shortage of killer plugins that will make your clean sound really sparkle

Thank you my friend. You hit the nail on the head there, I'm working furiously to get some kind of handle on getting a nice tone. It's very difficult for me, especially with the clean tones and I end up sitting 3 hours just to isolate a specific frequency that I want to boost or remove leaving the effects behind and at the end of it all getting frustrated that I then have to isolate a bunch more freqencies that don't sound right to me. I'm very sorry about the mastering level on this tho, it should have more volume and tbh I should have done a better job checking that before I uploaded.

Amplitube has been my choice so far, but I can't really say that I like it for cleans so far. Today I started experimenting a bit with expanders. There actually is both a chorus and a delay on this but I'm so bad at setting it up I tend to "tweak away" rather then "tweak toward" the sound I want. Just cause I hear something in my head and then the controls respond differently! hahaha yup! With time, hopefuly!

Hey Vince - have you tried a tube preamp so far? I think it can be a lot easier to handle and you could enjoy your playing a lot more, than just wasting tons of time to get a hang of the digital things. If your budget allows it - I highly recommend the AMT SS20

As far as tone goes? I really want to have a very smooth distorted tone, so smooth that it just sounds like a violin and as dynamic. It seems impossible to find and the closest I've gotten is something like this: https://soundcloud.com/vercia/da-da-daaa-cubic-orbits-0-10 It's way too muddy for my specific taste and not as dynamic as I'd want it. Still working on it.

The quickest thinking I can do regarding this, right now is the following idea Find the famous players that have resembling tones with this ones and see what they use to achieve it and then search for the necessary devices, if affordable, if not, check for alternate solutions on the internet - I am sure there are a lot of people that already achieved getting this sort of tone with other means. Maybe some of the guys in the forum already have good advice regarding this Why not start a separate thread in which you can gather data about this particular endeavor?

Ahh!!! Your in luck. The BRUNETTI amp/cab combo in OVERLOUD TH2 will produce this very smooth type of nearly "violin" type of distortion. Have you downloaded the TH2 demo? It contains the BRUNETTI head and cab. Even at high gain, it's not peircing or metallic like the RANDALL head. It's much smoother and dynamic. Also, notice this pedal configuration.



I'm running

COMPRESSOR>EXPANDER>OVERDRIVE>EXPANDER>CHORUS> then to the AMP HEAD, the using FOUR Parametric EQ's. If you tried this type of approach with the Brunnetti head in the middle, I think you'd be close to your goal The pedal configuration enhances light strikes but keeps hard strikes from taking over.

P.S. Shoot me some of your presets and I"d be happy to load them up and give a tweak or few
