Well, the next week will be a very important one for me and my dear band, as we are shooting our first official video. This thread will be updated with all the steps - it's going to be a sort of a making of biggrin.gif

First things first - The idea

The idea around which the video is centered is duality - The song behind the video is 'Meta' - check it out here if you want:

The original script was like this - > There will be two characters:

1) The White One (dressed in white), having his face covered black cardboard pieces he is holding. They are having faces drawn on them and as the video progresses, the character throws away each of the cardboard pieces and finally, he is left only with his real face.

2) The Black One (all dressed in black), having his face covered with white cardboard pieces on which various characters (there will be about 5 of them - the child, the woman, the businessman, the old man and the ugly man) will each come and draw a face. With each drawn face, The Black One will add a new 'mask' in his collection.

In parallel, the whole band is filmed from various angles performing in a large room, with strong lights and having the walls fully covered with photos of people's faces, printed in black and white - a metaphor which will underline the video's idea in the best way possible.

Here's the explanation of the whole thing biggrin.gif

The colors of the clothes worn by the two characters are metaphors symbolizing their nature.

- The White One has to be smothered - the way in which society always tends to do to nice, pristine people - a bright aura is always attracting negative energies. As the video progresses (the individual's life span in a metaphoric sense), The White One cleanses himself of the traces and marks left by society, by realizing that these masks he gradually throws away are nothing else but what he did to make himself liked by the society in which he had to adapt. The important revelation is that The White One becomes himself. The cardboards are being black because this is how the society actually sees him - he is a pariah for actually being white, so society sees him as being black. The white faces on the cardboards are the 'positive' thing that the society thought it was doing over the apparent 'black'/ pariah nature of The White One.

- The Black One is obviously dressed in black - he is already filled with society's misery. The white cardboards represent the way in which society percieves him: he belongs to the flock. The faces drawn by the 5 characters will be done in black, over the white cardboards. These faces represent the power of personalization, which only underlines the actual 'black' nature of The Black One.

I think this concept is really deep and it will make up a tremendously punchy video for the song. Now, you maybe wondering about what sort of lyrics have triggered such an idea, so here they are:

"Meta"

Verse1:
Conform yourself to everybody else who waits in line
We'll mark your soul with a fire that shall stand the test of time
Don't try to fight, you'll be fine
(The perfect symphony! The smell of ecstacy!)
We're happy to provide your smile

Chorus:
Whatever may come this way
Whatever they'll try to change in you
Tomorrow you'll be the same man that you were today

A matter of life and death
The reason they try to confiscate
It's never enough for taking over your last breath

Verse2:
We sold you feelings in a special package made of sand
It's growing weary, your mind won't listen and your heart pretends
To love the meaning of a life you understand
(Your secret enemy! Your real fantasy!)
Now wash away the dirt and scream!

Interlude:
It’s over now
And you should know
It’s in my eyes

Mid:
It's not the same
Is it for real or is it just a game
It's such a shame
You're just a circus beast and now you've got your fame!

Sorry for the lengthy post smile.gif What do you guys think? Next week I'll write all about the production and shooting and on Wednesday I'll have some vids also from the sessions. We're actually shooting on Wednesday and Thursday.

That sounds like a great concept Cosmin and I admire you and the band for portraying such a positive message. It's a shame what society can do to people by conditioning them to think of and see themselves in a certain way. I believe that our life should be a process of rediscovering / awakening to the true, divine essence that is naturally within us all. smile.gif

Cosmin, thanks you for sharing this. I get what you guys are going for and it sounds like it's going to be great. I was trying to visualize what you described while listening to the song. I think it will work pretty damn good. Now I need to wait and see the video. Keep up the awesome work.

Sounds like it's gonna be a great video! Put up some production stills if you can so we can see how it's coming!

A lot of city folk are uncomfortable in the country but I know you're probably not one of those guys.

Nooooo sad.gif I would never hurt animals! But I was stealing corn and potatoes from people's gardens (they were in the middle of nowhere so no one was there) and we would cook them straight on the embers. After that, a serious dose of wild berries and sour apples plus fresh water from a hidden well. I can't believe it when I am thinking that I went alone in the woods (my comrades remained close to the fire near the lake where we were fishing) at 3 in the morning, about 20 minutes distance from the place where we had the fire to fetch water from that well. laugh.gif I don't think I'd have the guts to do it anymore laugh.gif
