I thought about it for a long time and last week I finally decided...
I sold my Marshall JVM410 and bought a used Peavey 6505+ with the money!!

The Marshall is way more versatile and I was sad to let my first tube head ever go but I play in a modern Metal band and the Peavey simply delivers a much tighter Metal tone than the Marshall...

COngratulations man, that head is really made for metal. I'm not sure if that cab is good match, perhaps you can test it with some other cabs as well, but head will definitely deliver! smile.gif

Don't worry Ivan^^ The 1960 AV cab is loaded with Vintage 30s - they deliver a serious Metal tone!
It's the second most used cab for any kind of metal right after the Mesa Rectifier box with V30s (which sounds the same except for more bass and less mids).

Fun fact: I play this baby on the clean channel for metal rythm !!! wink.gif

The lead channel packs a lot of gain and heaviness but when you switch the crunch mode on in the clean channel and crank the gain way up it also becomes a high gain channel that sounds even heavier and tighter than the lead channel!!

The downside is that you can't play clean anymore but the Peavey has a pretty bad clean tone so nothing of value was lost^^

I played a 6505 212 combo on Saturday and it really is one brutal metal beast, the crunch sound is impressive indeed. BUT I was also pleasantly surprised with the clean tones. To me it has some pretty nice cleans - perhaps because of the stock Sheffield speakers? I am seriously considering buying one of those.

There is also a 60 watt 1x12 6505+ combo for considerably less money!

Wow what a great choice, Zakk! Where will you post the live vids? I'm really curious about the sound biggrin.gif

And about the Marshall cab, I played a gig last week on a Krankenstein head and Marshall with V30s cab and it sounded more metal than it's original Krank cabs!
