I have never really aspired to be a shredder, but I do recognize the need for some occasional speed bursts in my playing. I'm looking through the lessons here for arpeggios and sweep picking and I thought I would ask if you guys have some exercises/lessons to recommend to me? Other speed techniques of interest here? And theory on arpeggios also.

For me I think that these series are essential to start with...

Right Hand Basics
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/lessonser...ght-Hand-Basics

Hands Synchronization
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/lessonser...Synchronization

Economy Picking
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/lessonser...Economy-Picking

Finger Independence
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/lessonser...er-Independence

After that start with Ivans Pentatonic series if you don't know any kind of scaling at all. THanks Ivan. Great series. smile.gif

I thoroughly recommend Ian's Sweep Picking Etude. I learnt only the first video of this and it is fun to play and has improved my sweep picking a lot.

Awesome Muris.

I officially asked Santa to be Muris for Christmas next year. I would this year but I already got my Christmas gift. tongue.gif

You should work on legato too. I've been doing that for a couple of days now and I can go pretty fast already. Do this kind of shape on every string, with every finger combination possible, wide and small intervals, low frets and high frets:

9h11h13p11p9

You'll see results within days. smile.gif Go easy on yourself though, you will get strained, which is fine, but don't push it too much as you will buck yourself over. (Is it okay if I say buck? I mean it like replacing 'crap' by 'pancakes' wink.gif)

Edited for language: Micke on behalf of the moderating team

I actually do practice something similar trying to get up to a rapid ostinato kinda thing. Usually just on the high E. I'll start moving that around and see what happens. smile.gif Thanks SOD!

Yeah! Everything! biggrin.gif Even a little tapping maybe. rolleyes.gif

Favorite players? Too many, but some that come to mind right now Angus Young, SRV, Georg Dolivo, Zakk Wylde, Jerry Cantrell, Billy Gibbons, Pat travers, Robin Trower, Michael Schenker.

I have a clip in Ivan's Christmas Rock collab. View at your own risk! tongue.gif

I asked Santa for the ability to play like Muris and he said quote:

" Kid you got a better chance of seeing Jesus then playing like Muris. "

I asked him for the same thing, but he just laughed at me so hard he broke a rib...
