Hey people, so i wanna share a bit more of what i like today, almost every night that i'm free i try to see a good movie, but for more or less one year i have been watching a lot of documentaries online, they open up your mind in a lot of ways.

I'm watching this one right now, it's super duper cool, it can change your perspective of things for a bit.

Share yours if you are watching any smile.gif

I've watched 20 minutes, that is a pretty decent one.

you can look on

http://video.pbs.org/

for a collection. Nova, or Secrets of the Dead have some good ones, among others.

This is great documentary smile.gif These guys were gonna be the "Next Big Thing" but it just never happened. It has a great ending too, with them triumphantly returning to Japan smile.gif

Here is the Rock Dock that started my interest in docs. It's called THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION PARTII THE METAL YEARS.

It's a great time capsule to the 80's Metal Scene in L.A. that started the "Metal Wave", the ripples of which can still be seen all over the world especially in Europe where folks still like music that doesn't suck.

I have not had TV in my house since 2004. You really use your time much better when you get rid of it. I remember it was like breaking an addiction when I quit it, and also quit paying attention to "the news". Now if I see a TV, it seems like a brain sucking idiot box to me. One might as well take the short cut and smash one's head against a brick wall and get if over with, rather than let the entertainment industry slowly turn one's brain into silly putty. Some good stuff is broadcast, but I think it is best to find that from other sources, DVD or Internet. If you watch it on TV, it is like wading in a swimming pool full of poop, where someone has put some pearls in it. You will find some pearls eventually if you look hard, but only after you have been covered with poop.

That's one approach smile.gif The poop analogy seems to apply to major broadcasters here like the major networks. I have to say, those should be avoided. But the Military Channel, Discovery Channel, History Channel, National Geographic Channel, etc. all offer great documentaries and other compelling content. That said, my cable box blew up almost a month ago and I have not missed it yet. But then again, most everything I want to watch is available as a stream or download so the cable box is almost pointless these days.

My HDTV is now one of the "Heads" on my main music computer and it's a much better use for it smile.gif If I want some TV I pull up hulu, or rentadrone for news, etc. CNN offers live streams of their content via browser as does my cable provider so I have to say traditional "Tv" viewing is a dead issue for me. Also, it lets me have more screen real estate for REAPER!

Most any HDTV has a VGA or DVI input now so turn your HDTV in to a computer monitor! You'll be glad you did smile.gif

Oh yeah, that was a weird but funny doc... do you remember one of those abnds featured called Seduce ? The lead guitar player was pretty good if I remember.. bit of a Steve Vai look-a-like !

This documentary was on tv a couple of months back and it was incredible.. i couldn't stop watching. If you ever get chance to see it, you should. This clip doesn't even scratch the surface.. smile.gif

Here's one with Morgan Freeman, dedicated to space topics, called "Through the Wormhole". Here's one episode on black holes, but others are very interesting too.

I don't think so.. I half heartedly looked for other bits but didn't see any in the immediate list. There's an amazing bit about how our body runs on super efficient mode when we're starved and how eating less might actually make us live longer because of it. In order to survive when we're in a situation where there's no sustenance, our body kind of stops supplying cells for things that aren't immediately necessary and we run on a sort of low energy mode that is less intensive on our cell production blah blah (I'm no scientist, surprise surprise) smile.gif

But it's basically like running an engine on low rpms instead of thrashing the nuts off it and having to top it up with fuel and oil more often.

One of the best music documentaries was "The Beatles Anthology". It's a very very long one too and interesting.
When I watch TV I most exclusively watch Discovery, National Geographic and History Chanel.
