Great advice, generally it is a nice idea to have a spare cable all the time in your gig bag because you can easily step and break a cable you are currently using in a gig situation.

One thing to add about batteries - be careful to buy good ones because lower quality ones can "drip out" because of temperature and everything and cause a big mess in your equipment and/or place where they are stored...I was holding spare batteries in my bass case and I once found a real mess in there , battery acid everywhere...I guess they were lower quality ones...
