hi everyone i´m new to the site and im enjoying it a lot!
i don´t play guitar for too long(3 moths ~),i have a stratocaster and a frontman 15g amp.its a good guitar, although the tremolo rings a bit(don´t know if its the strings or what makes that sound...).i don´t realy like the amp.if i put some distortion he starts to buzz and that annoys me.
so i was wondering if someone can tell me any good guitar/amp that is suited for heavy playing for a reasonable price.
hope to get responses wink.gif

Welcome to GMC smile.gif

If you want a good but reasonably priced guitar, then i recommend looking into an Epiphone or an Ibanez. They make some excellent budget-guitars.

And as far as amps goes, then the new Vox Valvetronix XL series might have some good ones.

I'm down with Trond - Epi, Ibanez or Jackson for guitars, and for amp, Randall or Vox hybrids.

Cheap solution for newbies would be a Line 6 Spider III amp. VERY Good prices and lots of sound for the cash. LOTS.

I agree with what everyone else has said, but id like to point out that cheap guitars with trems often go out of tune quite easily.

If you consider Ibanez RG350 cheap, then I don't agree: the Edge III tremolo is quite good.
Haven't had the need to tune my guitar for six weeks now.
It stays in tune better than my fixed bridge guitar.

Cheap guitars are often not set up properly when you get them.
Remove the locks from the nut, stretch the strings, tune up, adjust the trem, let it settle for a day or two, tune up and lock the strings when it stays in tune. wink.gif

Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.

you should also check ebay for used rg550/570 from the mid nineties made in japan. some of them are in excellent shape and a real bargain in comparison to a new ibanez prestige.

I agree with Trond, Epiphone build awesome guitars for good prices and a lot of people also love their Ibanez guitars. Finding a cheap amp that offers good sounds is a bit more tricky in my opinion, Line 6 would be for sure an option.
