Don't know much about mics. I have a sm57 I use to ic my amp for recording and was looking for a second mic to add. Saw this condensor mic for sale in classifieds and was wondering if this is a good mic?

I have the AT3030 (I think) and it works beautifully. This has been discontinued and 2020 is the follow up I think. Here it is in action:

I used AT3035 and it was a very good mic. If you are planing to use it to record your voice it would be good if you try it first to know how it works with it. I think that AT mics are some of the best at that price range. You should also check Rode mics.

As other folks mentioned it's a nice mic!!!! Always check the list and street price of course when buying used. Ebay is a decent place to get an idea. Click on "completed" auctions to see what the final prices were.

For the price, if it's in good shape it's a nice buy. Make sure to TEST THE MIC BEFORE giving cash smile.gif I know this sounds obvious, but I have had reports from folks who bought gear just because it looked "new" and didn't test it first.

Often, but not always, people sell things for a good reason. Sometimes, they need money, sometimes, the gear has some small issue and they can no longer return it. Ebay has buyer protection, craigs list has only CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!

Thanks guys. I will test it. I talked to him I'm going to have him come over so I can plug it thats the downside of craigslist as i dont like strangers in my home, but ive never had problems. have phantom power on my interface.
This is a noob question unsure.gif does my cable I use for my sm57 the same cable I use for condensor mics that require phantom power, just so I know so I'm all set to test and don't have to buy a cable before I test it?

That should be fine. I use the same cable for both types of mics. smile.gif

I use 2020 One of the best condenser mics for the price. Great for vocal and acoustic but not as a basic mic for guitar cabs smile.gif
