Mertay, yes boosting lowend before the preamp is likely to cause more gain/compression - when pushed into extreme will give you a fuzz type of sound.

I would say there are many options for tightening the lowend and bumping mids (which is what the tubescreamer and many others do).

I also think that some kind treble booster is just as essential to be heard in the mix, especially with humbucker guitars that are not very bright sounding.

KRIS: I've seen your prestige in action and it looks like loads of fun to play! The prestige necks are just wonderful. They carry on the tradition of the original wizard with the 17mm profile at the first fret.

Yeah, that + the original tremolo is probably the most distinct features of this axe!

I had a black J Custom RG2550. I sold it pretty fast, but I don't really blame the guitar. It was very metal:ish and I was starting to go in a different direction.

I do have a Prestige RG652 Ahm - and I love it to death. The only problem is that in spite of the 5 piece neck it is not the most stable guitar - even when I compare to (high end) double locking guitars. Could be just mine though.

The slight fluctuations in tuning are probably small enough for live gigging but are annoying in the studio.

Here is my response to Piotr and Onetab!

Attached File  mix3_dust_off_yer_axe.mp3 ( 4.45MB ) Number of downloads: 20

@onetab I chose your first take as that felt like the most strong sounding one!

Really digging the direction this is taking!! ๐Ÿ‘Œ

I used to be a big fan of sound cloud. These days, it's running $16 a month and I keep hearing that it's about to go down the drain at any time so I killed my pro subscription package. Usually I"ll just make a video and put it on youtube when doing music..Most folks discover music through youtube. This wasn't always the case but it is now. To wit..

Todd I need a slightly different file from you:

* check for audio clipping, this one has some nasty ones

* skip all time based effects preferably

* start the file from the beat 1

Thank you. I think that is the new auto adjust feature for pictures they added. Trying to fix it.

Cool, hope you can work it out!

Hi Mate, great to see you cover this lesson!

It is an extremely good choice as it kinda puts you "naked" in front of the listener: you have a laid back arrangement and a compressed/distorted wide frequency range tone that is taking all the space in the mix.

On top of this, you have long sustained notes with bending.

Over a faster backing track you can get away with notes that are note completely bent in tune - but on this backing track - correct pitch is everything!

And this is also where you need to work - many of your notes are not on pitch. And we cannot blame it on your guitar's intonation (only) because as you bend your ears are the ultimate judge of the amount of bending needed.

I cannot give you a passing grade here as the out-of-pitch bending ruins the over-all impression of your technique here - which otherwise is pretty good.

However I have seen you nail this stuff before, so I think that if you practice this a little more while focusing on pitch you should get it down quickly.

Keep up the hard work - you get a 5 from me!

I use the iphone feature and load up it as attachment

I download your image and on my pc it is on the side as well, so I think maybe your phone is detecting the issue before you upload it to GMC (and automatically adjusts the image) - your PC does not do this, so that is why it appears on the side even at GMC.

Let me know if I got it right!

Not really, as I have been laying low with my playing (our collab excepted of course!)

But I am following this thread with interest, I still haven't gotten over how cool it is that with the help of a small room and a modern computer you can create amazing one-man-band songs ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Got rid of the closet I mentioned in another thread, and now I have a lot more space. My dad will help me put wallpaper etc up smile.gif then I'll have a nice corner for recording videos without stumbling over camera tripods and what not.

Very cool, this made quite a difference!

I have not really checked the legitimacy of their environmental claim - but given that it seems to use Google results I figured sharing won't hurt.
