I just recently started listening to Paul Gilbert(Thanks to Gen! biggrin.gif ).
I'm not into shredding at all, but this guy is not like others. Gilbert actually knows how to make FREAKIN good music.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=XIzmmSSqZzQ - This... is the BEST and COOLEST video/song EVER!
I order EVERYONE to watch it, or else I'll frackin' track you down, and burn down your frackin' house!!!
(Battlestar Galactica swearing ftw)

Any other Gilbert fans on GMC? smile.gif (No need asking about that I suppose tongue.gif )

Edit: oh, and I will probably not burn down your house.

Yeah, coolest guitar ever. Much cooler than JEM(yes I'm serious).

Edit: I dont even know if the guitar he is using in that video might be a JEM, so I just have to edit and say: Its much cooler than the JEM Vai uses! biggrin.gif

Its not a JEM, its his signature guitar. And Ibanez PGm

The differneces are that Paul, has a basswood body, and Steve Vai's (white) JEM has an Alder body. And Pauls guitar has a fixed bridge, which Vai has the Edge Pro Bridge. So says my book biggrin.gif

Oh and also. Paul has Jumbo Frets, and Vai has 6105 Frets. Hmm whats the difference?? I would love to know!!

You go too far! The Jem is white and classy, stylish and gold, and doesn't have wierd fake violin holes in it ...

Of course I might just be a tad biased wink.gif

Id pick PGM over JEM any day. PGM to me is more like thrash around kinda guitar, the more you beat it up the better it looks while the JEM is more like classy high end guitar that your affraid to scratch the pickguard. I guese I like a guitar where i can pick it up and not get conscious on how im gonna handle it while playing.

As far as the post, I love Gilbert. His album Get out of my yard is deff one of the greatest instrumental/shred/rock album right next to Perpetual Burn and The Extremist. My fav song by him would prolly be Hurry Up. It has a nice groove and catchy riffs.

I have to many favourite guitarists...not to speak of idols but PG is one of the tops. because he´s a down to earth person, nice guy, and on top of his qualities as a guitarist, a master teacher atmo smile.gif

and that video forced me to perform an airguitar solo in a mc donalds right in front of the counter, when talking about it to some friends XD

nice that this video popped up here, too smile.gif

cheers,
Kai

"Fact is, nothing in the world bores me more than gear...If I played thru your rig, I would still sound like me. Van Halen would sound like Van Halen. Brian May...etc. Very early in my career I decided to focus on creating music and not being a guitar tech. Being a good guitar tech is a very different and extremely difficult job, so why not leave it to a pro?"
