So I own this "Planet Waves" brand guitar strap with a plastic buckle that goes around the little knobs on my strat, and while I was playing today the thing the completely snapped wright wear it connects to the upper part of the guitar.

I wasn't even doint anything crazy, I was actually just leaning forward to look at a tab, and BAM!

Luck was on my side, as I was able to grab the neck before it hit the ground. (it would have hit a conrete floor)

Just a warning to anyone that might own this obscure brand of strap.

also, anyone got any tips for when I go to get a new one?????? lol

Just needed to vent my frustration

-Chris

I`m with you, man! Go out and get yourself a good, solid leather strap. The heavier the guitar, the wider the strap is the rule I follow. Not only will it protect your investment, but they are generally alot more comfortable than the cheap narrow straps and way more reliable! Glad your axe is still healthy and in one piece! cool.gif

My first (good) guitar is all beaten own partly because of the strap (or was it just me...). I have a Jackson King V and both horns are pretty banged up. It still plays and looks good but I would have really liked it if those chips never got there.

Lesson learned, always play standing on a soft carpet. rolleyes.gif

Get a broad lether strap. It also helps balancing the weight since it doesn't slide.

I hear you man, the original strap that came with my stratocaster was "made in china" unsure.gif . During a pause on one TV show the strap brake on the leather part that holds to the lock, and I even had strap lock on! sad.gif

I now use a decent quality strap that is better than that (prooved to last till now wink.gif ). And planning to buy a leather Fender strat and reinforce it when I get the money cool.gif

ohmy.gif Juan.. we need a lession on how to do that move biggrin.gif that was really awsome!

For my strap i use a Levi's Jimi Hendrix Strap. Not only do the colours match my baby perfectly its a really sturdy peice of material. I don't see it breaking anytime in the near future.. personally i hate leather straps, the leather always ends up getting cracked and they just don't feel comfortable in my opinion. Actually the most comfortable strap ive ever warn was a Chain Mail strap that my friend made for himself.
