Welcome smile.gif

Glad you decided to pick up the guitar!

My advice would be to check out the beginner kick-off here:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/beginner-...eo-lessons1.htm

Another piece of advice would be to ask as many questions as you can on the forum!

Will it be much of a handicap missing a string when trying to learn how to play?

Hey welcome Michael, take DeepRoots advice and start with the beginner kick off.
Once you feel comfortable with those 6 lessons, move on to some of the 101's. Remeber this is
a long process so take your time and move at your own pace. smile.gif

It could be a great idea to buy a new set of strings!

I think that's the saddles you're talking about (and you really need that part). Normally I think you buy saddles in a pack of six, but go talk to your guitar store and I'm sure they can help you out.
