Fender Noisless Pickups, Has anyone tried them Options

I had been wondering for some time about the fender noiseless pickups, and I managed to get the set for $40 bucks so I decided to give them a try, supposedly they would give me the vintage strat sound without the hum, well the output seems to be to low, the tone is good, but I have to hit that thing hard to get some distortion out of it. Anybody else here have tried these?

I have a set in my fender deluxe and think they're really nice, they may not be the same as yours though, I think there are a few versions including a hotter version. I think mine are these ones: Fender SCN Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Stratocaster, perhaps you have the vintage version? Maybe you can tweak them a bit, like raise them closer to the strings, mine are just under the strings. I'm pretty new at playing guitar and not very knowledgeable so for what it's worth I really like my pickups, some strat purists like Ivan don't like them quite as much because without the noise I guess they lack a bit of the tonal qualities of vintage strats

I have 3 vintage noiseless pick ups in my strat, but to be honest, I do not have a reference for comparison. They were standard on my strat when purchased and I have been very pleased with the guitar as a whole. They seem to be able to provide distortion, but again, I am not that experienced as a player and maybe what I think is high distortion is really not. It can sound pretty fuzzy though when I turn the distortion up. If there is something that I can do to test this for you, let me know. I am glad to help.

I tried several strats in the store with vintage noiseless and compared them with regular vintage pickups, and I like regulars better. They have more spark and twang to it. But it's a matter of personal preference.

Looks interesting and easy to install, have you tried this BPSSC system?

What amp or gear do you connect this to, I have connected it to my POD XT, and unlike the other guitars I have to add an overdrive stomp box either as a separate unit, or in POD itself to get it to distort nicely.

Unfortunately I have been virtually ampless since January. I brought over an amp from the states and was afraid to plug it in after I blew up some other electronics........sad story for another time. Anyway, i have been playing through a tiny battery operated Fender mini twin amp. Truthfully, i have been pleasantly surprised with this little thing.

But anyway, once I am up and around with my amp.....might be two months since it was just packed away today for shipping back to the states......i can provide you with some feedback.

I can't really offer any feedback on noiseless because I'm not exactly sure what came in my strat. One thing I can comment on was that my stock PUs had way more than average cycle hum. I replaced them with a set of Lace sensor hot golds in my 06 american strat. 6K, 6K, 15K set. When I was researching different replacement pickups and wiring, the Eric Johnson strat wiring caught my eye. The hum was so loud that I didn't relize that my strat already had tone control over the bridge PU. During install, I also lined the inside of the PU cavities with foil tape and improved the ground wiring. I really don't know if that helped any, but I already had it apart so I did it. The lace reduced hum pretty significantly and the wide range of tones is amazing. The bridge PU is very hot. Don't know if this helps, but anyone looking to replace strat pickups defintetly don't overlook these.

Well my Clapton Strat came stocked with 3 vintage noiseless PU's and i am very happy with them. I'll agree with Ivan and say that regulars have a bit more "twang" or should i say that "traditional strat vibe" but i can honestly say that i wouldn't switch out the noiseless for any other set.

I've had no problems getting great distortion from mine either.

You know guys, now that I have been playing with this guitar for a while, I got used to its sound. It is not for metal, so I am using it when I play with my brother, which is soft rock. I played in front of people a few times and they told me that they liked the tone, and it suits my brother's music well, here I mostly do soft solos with bends (no shred at all).

I agree. I have prolly mentioned this before, but Scott henderson modded a noisegate into his strat to avoid it. Worked like a total charm!
