does anyone here consider themselves talented in other things, any other hobbies etc.?

I have spent much of my time juggling before picking up the guitar, and got pretty good at that, I also can solve a Rubiks cube in under 2 mins (not quite as fast as those guys on youtube )

oh yeah, and im pretty good at Halo on xbox (i'm not sure if that counts lol)

anyone else pour their freetime into hobbies other than guitar??

i play my xbox360 every now and again, and im pretty handy with computers.i used to do alot of photoshop before guitar.

Oh, other talents. I wish I had any, at least I'm hoping to be decent when it comes to the guitar in a few years, but then that will be my only talent.

Except, I kicked ass at F-Zero GX for gamecube back in the days, but that's the only thing I've ever been good at. So I'm not even good at video games

My other hobby at the moment is the gym. I wish I could play guitar for the same amount of time I'm in the gym. I've made the commentment to be healthy so at the moment that's my main focus. I work out about 4-7 days a week - lifting weights usually 4-5 days out of the week and cardio 1-2 days.

I use to play a lot of video games (beat Halo 3 on Legendary), but not so much anymore. I have a PS3 that does nothing, but function as a DVD player. = /

oh yea, i used to do weights too, but they were in the shed and it got cold at winter so i dont anymore lol.
i like eating and drinking, im pretty good at that.

Im a world champion sleeper.. but i don't think it counts as a talant.. I can swim (used to race in highschool) and i .... can't do too much else

Well im into photography as you all know, people say i have a talent but im not sure i belive in talent since gmc !

Im also very good with IT, i used to be an Engineer so I can build medium scale networks ! Im not talking a home router and a switch more like a medium sized business. I did my CCNA which runs out soon ! i wont be redoing it as im looking to be more creative in IT.

I use to do a lot of acting and visual arts performance, and was this close to making it a profession (some people still want to see me do that) but after a while I realized that it didn't make me very happy, and that I only did it because the applaus gave me some form of self validation.

Then I went into writing/spoken word performance. I got good at it, and then I started getting cocky and the quality of my work took a dive. When I realized this I got obsessed with putting out top quality pieces that I ended up not turning in anything a lot of the time due to excessive self editing. Back then, I felt like I had something to prove to the world instead of writing for the sake of writing. Some things never change.

These two things culminated into helping me with guitar actually. I'm comfortable with all the attention I get onstage (even when I mess up) and songwriting came to me a little easier than most I think. Despite all this, I'm still quite the lackluster guitar player

I used to spend all my time on swimming some years back (quit 2 years ago).
In my early teenage years I was #1 (from my age group in my country) at the freestyle sprint distances, and well-ranked at nearly every other swimmingstyle/distance..
Participated in many international competitions, but missed the European Youth Olympic Festival (the olympic games for youngsters) due to a foot injuri

I had alot of great experiences, but eventually I got tired of all the time I had to spend doing physically tough training (up to 5 hours a day), I felt like I was missing out stuff in life and that made me quit.

Oh! my time on a rubiks cube was 55 seconds! it freaks people out at school I play Piano, guitar, bass clarinet, also a member of www.coasterdynamix.com.

I do Tai Kwon-do and MMA classes, but I'm thinking about quitting them.
I also play Xbox 360 a bit.

LEt me ask you a question...

What method do you use?

cuz i just use a heavily modified version of the method that comes with the cube (the little book that came mine at least)

I solve the first layer and work down...

do you do that or do you build out from a corner??

Ahh I did that for 5 years, I was really good and I won gold medals in tournaments. I had to give it up when i was 21 because i caught glandular fever ( Mono ) and i got pretty sick !

Mono is horrible, i caught it for 3 months once, Anyway

Other talents i have are Drawing, its what i do to pass time when guitar is not available, I'm really good at figuring out puzzles and secrets in games, like in Silent Hill, Myst, Final Fantasy games, and RPG Games in general, im a huge RPG Fan. Im quite the computer geek, and i love to repair old guitars.

yeah even today I dont have the energy levels I had before that, but im ok I much prefer guitar now,but I did totally 100% love Martial Arts, I did kickboxing also ! (at the same time!!)

im a pretty good athlete, i play football, baseball, and i snowboard and skate....im also really good at video games such as Oblivion, Halo 3, all GH games, COD4....im a decent artist, but only drawing.

Well im really good at Chess, computers in general, im decent at swimming, im really good at soccer and volleyball, decent in tennis And used to be really good at videogames, i dont play that much anymore, but the "talent" stays there nonetheless

A reasonable mechanic on the quiet altho I dont like doing it too much coz it results in many lost tops of knuckles, and nicks and cuts in your fingers! and very dirty hands and also from time to time plenty of swearing which isnt my normal thing

I guess you can say I'm pretty good at learning technology. I can also edit movies in Final Cut Pro. I'm one of the best audio person in my advance class. Holding a camera is also my forte (its hard especially when your trying to capture a dramatic moment).

Well I'm a great swimmer, when I was 16 I broke the Israeli record for 100m freestyle, but not officially cause I practiced privatly and never took part in any competition

I have no luck at anything at all ever, and so when I was born I was given no natural talent in anything whatsoever, so the only things I am good at are the only two things in the world that require no natural talent, music, and weight-lifting/running/fitness.

I used to be a pretty promising bodybuilder...
When I was just 15 years old I, Benchpressed 120kg easily, squatted around 150-160kg and
deadlifted 160-170 kg, my arms were about 40-41cm(15,6-16inch.) can't remember any other measurements.

after that I cracked my right shoulder twice and my left knee ones(knee in MMA)
Then when I finally seemed to get things rolling a little better, I got this condition called overtraining(I think that's what is in english) and that condition is actually a lot worse the it sounds, your muscles heal slower, all your results start to drop slowly, you feel like doing nothing all the time, you are very tired all the time, you feel little soreness on your joints, and the recovery can take many many weeks and ofcourse you must stay away from the gym during the recovery...

During that recovery time I started playing guitar seriously and after the recovery I just didn't feel like going to the gym anymore. I have been thinking about restarting that hobby, but we'll see...

Now what comes to my excersising, I smoke two packs of cigarettes a day and play the guitar all night long...

I live near the ocean, so I surf! Computers is my original hobby, but now most of my free time goes to guitar =)

I can't wait for summer, I hate surfing in the winter, water is too freakin' cold!

I am also into working out, I stopped a while and did what Tuubsu did, smoke cigarettes and play guitar all day. My endurence when through the floor and my body was starting to atrophe, so I'm in the gym every other day again!

I've done quite a bit of long distance running over the past year, participating in a couple events in the Netherlands. Used to hate running, now I love it.

And another quite recent passion of mine is Floorball, for which I train 3 times a week and play competition in the weekends.

None of the above is at a very high level, but it's good enough for me to enjoy

I think I'm good at sports: I used to play hockey on lawn. And I've been training with the Argentine selection for one year!.-

and now I dance hip hop, jazz and other styles in a competition group!

Hm.. When I had the time to play I was pretty good at Freestyle Footbag but had real fun with Footbag on a Net. It's like volleyball but it's much harder since you have to hit a very small "ball"(the footbag) and you play only with your feet. Here's a video to get the idea.

And the other thing I really regret for having to quit was breakdancing. After 6-7 years dancing nearly all of my brightest memories are connected with it. The dancing in the neighborhood with a big casette player with people from all around the city coming to see us... The dance competitions which were really fun... But then I had a very big problem with some kind of nerves on my neck and had to stop dancing :/

Ah and the other thing I'm very good at - looking stupid on photos. For my new job I needed a photo and went to get one.. And it was a disaster again In the moment I know someone's taking a photo I put the most stupid face ever Damn..

I spent many years of my life fishing for bass. Had some decent luck in tournaments but fell in love all over again with these six strings. Now I would rather stay home and play while my bass boat collects dust. We used to say the 10% of fishermen catch 90% of the fis, I feel I am in the 10% when I go.
