Gear lust is overtaking my brain!!! I still want an AXE FX but but now I want one of the new KEMPER PROFILING AMPS as well smile.gif They FINALLY put it in a rack mount format and added the option of a 600 watt Class D amplifier built in smile.gif Pretty darn spiff. But it ain't cheap. With the amp, it's U.S. $2,700.

It does look much better imho, and is sized to travel better Here is a pic and link.

*Anybody planning on getting one of these?

Spiff piece eh? Would be nice to have a rack with one of those and an AXE FX. Complete overkill but what a rack smile.gif

Can you record directly out of these, without connecting them to a cab?

Looks to me like the ultimate guitars recording machine for home/project studios! smile.gif

I'm not sure how the one with the power amp works, but yes you can run an XLR to an interface and use it.

Edit:
I've reag on the community page, they also have bass rig patches that sound amazing as well.

Yes, the Kemper profiles the cab as well so you record it with nothing else applied. It stores cab profile separately from amp profile so you can mix an amp from one profile with the cab from another.

The whole point of the Kemper is that you could have the engl and every
Other amp you can think of smile.gif in one handy box. But there's a sort of an old school thang wanting the big iron which I get smile.gif

I'd love a Kemper as well as the Axe you could do amazing things with both together.

I still long for an amp and pedalboard set up (even though I just sold all mine) but I just don't play in a situation that makes it the easy option ever

I just checked some more videos about this amp, and it is definetly not as accurate as they advertise it.
The Engl Special Edition is like the most versatile tube amp on the market, it has so many sounds that I wouldn't really need any other amp. smile.gif

I love my Kemper, wouldn't trade for other gear. But then again, I love that I can use headphone for practicing since. I sold my Mesa Triple Rectifier because I couldn't crank it to get the rectifier sound from it. Yeah it sounded great but sucks at bedroom playing. laugh.gif

Dont get me wrong, I don't actully own this engl, my neighbours would kill me if I would biggrin.gif
I was looking at the engl modern rock preamp, 'cause it has a 1,5W power amp for practicing and some great tones with a reasonable price.(around 550$)

TEOWULF, I"m not sure what vids you were watching, but as many KEMPER owners will tell you, up close and personal, the KEMPER can pretty much sound like any amp in the world which is the reason it is gaining so much momentum among pro players. But hey man, to each his own, if you are one of those guys who would rather have the big iron, go for it smile.gif

Since this is a profiling amp and there is a way to "copy" any amp you have, I was wondering - how do the presets sound? smile.gif

I suppose they already copied all the famous amps in their factory lab?

Here is OLA ENGLUND in the studio Profiling a MESA TRIPLE RECT. Towards the end they do an A/B and it's spot on. You can profile any amp, but you don't need to as they have mostly all been profiled and you just download the patch from the PROFILE EXCHANGE on the Kemper site smile.gif

Here is a vid of some guys profiling a Bogner.

Pro's all over the world have been flocking to this device. All of the live shows I attended last year seemed to have at least one kemper in the fx rack. The marshall stacks would be pointed at the audience, but looking behind them THEY WEREN"T EVER CONNECTED TO CABINETS! And I saw one or more Kempers right next to the monitor mix position every time. I see a lot of bands at a place called the Masquerade as that's where heavy bands play. And I kept seeing various Kemper setups.

Todd
