GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Summer Food And Witch Burnings

In Denmark we always celebrate the summer and the light by burning a witch on the fire. We are still a bit behind on the witch burning reasoning I guess. At least it is a good excuse too eat some barbeque
How many of you do this kind of ritual? I guess it is only northern Europe?

hmmm, it's salads, so I guess you mean the potatoes still in their skin? We had no cows to eat, but lamb, pork and turkey.

Oh man! I love traditional festivals! I'd go around the world to experience as many as possible!

We celebrate June 23rd as the night of San Juan. Sometimes witches get burnt on a big bonfire and the night festivities usually involve people jumping over fires 3 times to get good luck. Around here the food at San Juan tends to be more fish than BBQ - probably as fish has some religious significance for San Juan. Otherwise though summer food includes a lot of BBQ.

You know, as I see it, the Church felt really but REALLY threatened by people who were smart and discovering things at the dusk of the dark ages and they started killing them. You know, if people back then would've realized that the Church is not that almighty, who knows what sort of stuff would've happened and how society would've evolved till this day?
