The Blood Of The Poet
Entrance To The Underworld
---------------------------------

A world lost through the ages
Hidden beneath the trees
Shielded from the sunlight
Unseen by the eyes of man

A poet who seeks the wisdom
Guided by his heart
The failure of our past
Contained away forever

These walls, untouched for centuries
Leak secrets through the cracks
A master, with all knowledge
He must pass through his labyrinth

Of the greatest mistakes of history

The final step descended
As concrete turns to ash
There is no floor below him
Yet forward he continues to move

No light has ever touched here
Directed by his mind
Only darkness surrounds him
But wrong turns are never made

This maze’s twists and turns
Don’t stand as obstacles
The destination has been reached
But the journey, has just begun

“My son, I’ve waited a millennium,”
The old man finally croaks
His voice with a certain haunting
Like the whisper of a ghost

“But now, I shall warn you,
Before another step is taken
We must relive the horrors
The beast, shall be awakened”

-------------------------------------

So, this is part 1 of a 5 part story I'm writing. It's about a poet/prophet who seeks the ability to see the future. So he goes to see a man of legend that no one has ever seen, who suposedly holds all knowledge. When he finally gets there, he is told that to be able to see the future, he must first relive the past. The poet is taken through every terrible event in history, and forced to take part and write about his journey. Only after reliving everything that has happened, does he realise he no longer wants to see what terror the future holds.
