Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hey Josh! Great to see you working out your alternate picking!

This lesson is quite "straight-forward" so there is not much to focus at besides alternate picking. There are no hand-mechanics issues I could spot in general. There are no visual aspcects to say you do anything wrong. There is just one thing and it takes time to work this out - you still have some problems with timming and hand sync. Some notes sounds like the pick is srot of slipping after the note happens. Some note are a little rushed while next one are slightly delayed. We're talking about ultra little time amount that we can't say that you're offt he timming totally but it there is a feeling that these notes are no even time-wise. Not even enough to get the best grade. Maybe try to make wider right hand strums. It usually hapels for medium tempo to get better timing. Sometimes we need to put some more strength to it - it helps to break through the cricital string skipping moments and similar. In general nothing seriously wrong with your take but I would liek to see you bringing some more focus on the syn and timing. Great work!

Cool,

If it were me (I do practice slow alternate picking quite a bit) - I would try to include a bit more arm motion into the picking movement (you rely on the wrist here). Simply because you will need it when playing fast - even though it might not be needed at this tempo.

Also we can clearly hear misses when you go between the patterns - and the syncing issues Darius mentioned become very apparent towards the end when things faster.

I think you will get this down by considering the thing we mentioned, and spend some more time at the slower tempos. You get a 5 from me, keep it up!

Hi friend!

Your alternate picking looks well for me, but there is some work to do in order to make it more precise and effective. You are having sync issues when reaching the higher speeds here and this is related to the fact that you are not making small movements with both of your hands.
This generates that one or both hands are not reaching the speed and your hands go out of sync.

The key to fix this is to practice at a more comfortable tempo and focus on making the movement the smaller possible. This also applies to your left hand fingers. Try to keep them closer to the fretboard even when you are not using them.

Ok mate, that's all by now. Keep on the hard work!!
