Hey there GMC!

Finally, after many weeks of being on the forum, I've decided to wander over here and give you all a little background and introduction.

My name is Drew, I'm 21 years old and I live in Toronto, Ontario (Canada).

I've been playing guitar for 11 years and teaching guitar for 3, both privately and group lessons. I found this site browsing google for "online guitar jobs" because any extra cash for playing guitar is just awesome. The first day I was here I fell in love and bought a three month membership just to check it out. Its gotten to the point where I feel confident enough to send in my interview to Kris and cross my fingers for an instructor job.

I'm currently working on an instrumental album and have completed an EP with my band Blucore, in which I'm the singer and rhythm/lead guitar player. You can find us on YouTube (search BluCore) or at www.myspace.com/blucore

The instructors and the members here provide a very warm setting. Like standing in front of a fireplace. I always feel welcomed, my questions always get answered and this place feels like home. I'm glad I came, keep rocking.

I think it was pressure. The title said "BluCore meets Voodoo Records" or something.

Welcome Drew!

Really nice post and I like the sound of BluCore (listening to the first song on myspace currently). Do I detect a bit of Paul Di'Anno in your singing? smile.gif

Keep us updated on the application, it's always nice with new instructors.

Keep rockin'!

I don't really know who Paul DiAnno is, but I'll take it as a compliment haha.

Any tips from instructors regarding the application?

Paul Di'Anno is the singer who sang on the two first Iron Maiden albums (Iron Maiden and Killers).

Welcome man and good luck with the application. Keep in mind that video quality might come into play as well. smile.gif The new format is of higher resolution, so if you have an HD camera, that would be ideal.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato
