Heya,

Quick question. When practicing legato like this: ----6h7h9p7p6h7h9 etc etc would you use a metronome? In Petrucci's rock discipline dvd he says to play it to a timer, say about 1 minute. It's supposed to strength build, but would it help you get faster?

Hmmm, I'm debating on what string gauge I should use. Should I stick with .009's or go up to 10's? The main reason I would switch is because of the tone difference. But is there really a signifigant tone difference when only going up 1 gauge?

Thanks.

it seems like im always plagued with injuries. Couple months ago i got wrist pain in my fretting hand from doing legato, now im getting pain in my picking hand from picking exercises. Im so mad. i only spend 40 min a day on picking. i do use the computer alot, could this be a factor in my pains? I'm in a comp. programming course and all we do is type. I'm so pissed. Now im thinking about cutting down my routine to 20 min. How did guys like Vai practice 10 hrs a day? How bout you Kris? At this rate it'll be 20 yrs before I can play like Vai sad.gif

Hey, I was wondering if I should get a Fender American Deluxe or the Ibanez RG1570. I really like the tone from Fenders, but how far can the tremolo bend up and down? I know it doesn't go as far as a floyd, but can you still do crazy stuff with it? Also, are there any advantages the Fender has over the Floyd?

Thanks.

Just subscribed to this masterclass, it's awesome! I used to take guitar lessons, but I quit b/c I wasn't really learning what I enjoyed. I've been playing a little over 3 1/2 years, and I like blues and rock guitar. My favorite guitarists are Blues Saraceno, Joe Satriani, and SRV is my all time favorite. Joe Bonamassa is awesome to. Anyway, just saying hi.
