It depends, BOTH are very playable. The axis has a bit of a smaller scale I think. You might want to try checking out http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product...sku=515550]this musicman if you don't mind not having a tremolo, which would be my choice.

I'm interested in buying a Music Man so I'd personally lean that way.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with this site but I always find it helpful when it comes to reviews click me -------------------- |

I'm not sure if you're familiar with this site but I always find it helpful when it comes to reviews click me Thanks I have also thought about if I'd get a custom made guitar from MK guitars ( the one Muris uses ) That would be so cool, but I would need some serious help with that, maybe I could tease Muris with my tormenting questions -------------------- Music really is a way to reach out and hold on to each other in a healthy way. - Stevie Ray Vaughan |

To be fair, I don't know a thing about the Music Man Axis SP
About Ibanez I have a very positive experience with the high end Ibanez I've tried. No wonder I bought one. Also I just saw Satriani live and his tone is absolutely killer. From the photos you put also the looking of the JS is much nicer than the other one, so I would not think twice. Both are great, as you said. I'd say it comes down to which one feels best ergonomically

Custom is something when you pick all specs by your needs,
stock guitars usually have something extra we don't want or miss something that we would like. But both of these guitars are fine instruments, actually pretty tricky to be compared. -------------------- Youtube

I don't know the cost of the guitars you displayed compared to a custom built but I guess it's not a big difference. AND the custom guitar will most likely be better built.
