Well well! Nice to see your take over my lesson George. Let me point a few things.

1. I would go for less gain. The tone you have at the moment takes away some of the "crunchness" - plam muted parts should sound very "short" and percussive. It will also improve noise removing.

2. At 0:12 you should go for wide strumming motion through all strings. You need to keep your left hand muting really tight at this particular moment

3.Timming. Make sure you have proper monitoring settings so you hear the drums loud enough to match the timming. You tend to loose it at some points.

4. at the final part 0:52 you could improve separation between E6 notes and those "sort of melody" slided harmonies on higher strings.


Aside from above, I see no critical mistakes and I do enjoy the take a lot. Well done and keep up the good work

Hi George,

Great to find this take here! I think that you are on the right track with this one. Most of the lesson sounds good and with some more polishing it you'll be able to record a top level take.

Darius has already commented some really important things that could make your take sound better. I think that you need to continue playing this one every day with those comments in mind in order to improve three elements:

- Chord changes: The faster ones can sound smoother and tighter.

- Cleannes: I don't think that your playing is noisy, but you can make the things sound "nicer" by making some riffs sound more defined. How? Well, the first elements and the following are the keys (besides the tone adjustment marked by Darius)

- Dynamics: You can use more "intensities" to make this rhythm sound more expressive. Check how Darius manages this in the original lesson.

Hello George, always nice top see some METAL in the REC Zone!!

I have to say, you're very adept at chugging riffs. Your palm muting is very good and so is your hand coordination. There was nothing that stood out as needing obvious attention apart from a few moments where you slightly rush the chord changes. This is a nice, slow track so you have time to enjoy those crunching power chords and to sit back and be right on top of the beat - no need to rush.

As the guys said, lowering the gain a little bit might help. The camera mic can't pick up all the frequencies so less gain will help us judge the accuracy of your playing a little easier in future takes. Excellent work, though!
