Hey, I already posted this in the practice Room section, but I just realised that it actually belongs here: Greetings GMC Folks, I am looking forward to buying an Ibanez S570DXQM - BBB. Reason why I want this guitar is that I went to the Ibanez Rack where the Jems and other Guitars were hanging and not even looking at the Price, I took it directly to the testing room. I was amazed that such a thin Body had such sustain and the sound was just awesome (tried on a Hughes and Kettner Amp, think it's a 400$ Amp). Then I looked at the Price which was about like... 620$. I expected way more . Well the moment I had it in my Hand it was just great , it plays well , it feels nice, the cutaway is awesome, i couldnt find anything that I could call bad on this Guitar (except that it is REALLY thin and sometimes feels kind of strange because it's so light weight) Well now to the Pickups . The Stock Pickups aren't that great for some Styles of Music I play. For Example the Blues . They get kind of Fuzzy and somehow sound dirty and too fuzzed. I've tried playing on other Amps (always trying out new settings) but the same thing until I switch to other Guitars with "quality" Pickups. That's why I'd like to swap the infinity Pickups to a custom configuration [HSH system]. I talked with a cool guy at my local Music Store and read in the Forums, tried a few "live", and I really like DiMarzio Pickups. Ithought about an Evo 2 in Bridge Position, and a PAF Joe in Neck. Now I have no Idea what Pickup I would put in the middle, single coil format position. Anybody an Idea of what I can put in there? And then a more important question: Does Anyone own this Guitar and might want to warn me of some bad Features, because suprisingly I have only heard good things about the Guitar itself. dry.gif Has anybody got experience with changing Pickups on that Guitar? Another Thing: I was thinking about scalloping the 21st - 24th fret. I like the accessbility when it's a bit easier to do clean bends and vibrato on those . Good Idea ? Bad Idea? Well Forum , do your Magic, thank you in Advance Post Scriptum: Excuse my English , I'm from Germany I own a S770PB. I will start with the worst problems I can possibly find with mine. When I whammy my neck makes a click/creek sound. But if I take of my locking nuts it goes away so I'm thinking it deals with how mine tighten down, so may not be the guitar. With the body being so light and thin I have to wear a strap at all times sometimes it likes to slide when playing, depends on the material that my pants are made out of. Pickups suck so much! They just sound really bad, you can EQ around them and it helps but replacing the pickups will give it new life. Obviously if thats the bad I found, that it has to be that crazy stupid choices then the guitar is top notch for me. I have traded in guitars that cost almost 4x the price because they can't compare to it. As for pickups I know people that would say just toss in the Steve Vai set, its Evo in the bridge/neck and not sure about the middle pickup. It does sound good and can play anything. I actually don't use my middle pickup so its stock and I put in a set of BKP Blackhawks in it, I've fallen in love all over again with the guitar. -------------------- Guitars:

Thx for the quick reply Sammetal92, you dont seem rude at all, Thanky you very much . Well which ones did those People have . Normal Evolutions or Evo 2 , maybe a Link so that I know what you mean? Very Useful Reply and Report , Thank you very much SpaseMoonkey! Evo 1 or 2 ? He ran Evo 1 Brige/Neck with an Evo V2 Middle. Vai also used a PAF Pro which is an alnico magnet. Another style would be the famous Crunch Lab / Liquifire. Which I owned in my EBMM, it handed any tone you wanted from it. -------------------- Guitars:

The old JEM I own, came with scalloped frets from the factory - I do enjoy them, but I personally do not find them as so important. You can very well bend without having them But as I said, it is a matter of personal choice and TOdd's advice is very good - don't go cuttin unless you know it'll end up as a great job. Test first, as he suggested. Regarding the single coil pickup - why not try this one:

Anytime Steve! I am a HUGE Timmons fan and I am glad I could provide help and it was so easy for you to decide. Usually when we are hit by something, it's not difficult at all to say - that's what I like, but it would be great if you could at least try a guitar that has the Cruiser on already and see how it feels in YOUR hands, ok? That, before actually buying it Ok Well Guys, just ordered the DiMarzio Evolution Set here: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories...-humbucker-set# Sooo looking forward when it finally arrives. And Cosmin: I think I am getting the Cruiser for my Fender Strat . This post has been edited by SteveGuitar: Aug 30 2013, 03:26 PM |
