I am very happy to announce I will be doing video chats on sundays.

They will be a great opportunity to discuss all things GMC, practice- and progress related stuff, and just general hangout.

Check out the chats schedule on frontage, or countdown in chat room.

Be there or be square!! biggrin.gif

I have such a hard time getting my audio to work with the vid chats. I'm using a FireWire interface and both inputs are working. Input 1 is my guitar and input 2 is a condenser mic I use for voice.

The chat window settings show my FireWire as an option but no sound comes through. I'd love to be able to not use the laptops mic as it feeds back. Any suggestions?

Maybe try using you computers built-in input with an external amp? Bitrate in the video chat is low anyway so I guess the quality loss wont be very noticeable.

This problem could relate to audio panning of the interface, as it probably hard pans your two inputs left/right. Perhaps see if there is a sum-to-mono checkbox in your interface's control panel.

Jim, use the outpout of your FW card (fa 66 ?) in the line input of you internal card, kill the built in mic from th webcam, and route the recording device from the micro input where the fw out is.

do tryout to calibrate the recording volume....

i do this way with my FA-66

I do something similar smile.gif Your firewire audio interface should have a "headphone out". Run a small cable from your headphone output to the line input on your laptop/desktop built in sound card. That way you can get the signal coming from your audio interface and make it show up in chat without feedback. In the chat controls, just select your internal sound card.

This is how I had things setup when I was using plugins for my guitar tone. These days I have a much simpler approach. I run my 11 rack to my desktop monitors and just have one live microphone in the room that picks up my voice, and my guitar signal coming from the monitors. So if you have a practice amp, you could just use that and use your built in my on your laptop. But you'd need a pair of HEAPHONES to keep it from making a FEEDBACK LOOP. smile.gif
