Hey all, I'm an off again, on again player who's taking his instrument seriously for a change. Hope to meet some of you and improve the best I can. Scales are my main problem, when does it start to become music and not monotonous picking? LoL

Rob

Welcome, man!

It becomes music when you start writing your own music and solos and incorporate whatever you've learned smile.gif

Fran has a great point. Join in on a Collaboration project here on GMC! It gives you a great chance to put the skills you are learning in to practice. Also, in my Video Chat Lesson today, we are going to work with a backing track while we learn some new licks so join us at 5:00 PM EST in the Chat Room.

Practice!
Todd

Hello and welcome to GMC Rob ! Just keep practicing those scales, I recommend that you include improvisation practice utilizing scales you just learned. Just let the backing track play and improvise. At first it won't sound much, but in time it will sound better! Also that is most fun and efficient way to memorize all the shapes.
