Gauge of string is truly individual matter.
But sure to make yourself satisfied with tone and comfort while playing. Per example, many have asked me do I use 011 on my MM Axis. That's sound of guitar plus preamp etc...it's 009 all the time. -------------------- Youtube

I use 10s for exactly that reason, and after practicing with them for a while I find my bending to be more precise because there is more to push against, although I am sure you can get used to any gauge. I can;t usuefully ben them more than 3 semitones, but I don;t see that as a problem - I'm sticking with 10s for now.

I've used Ernie Ball Super Slinky for years - no complaints - great strings and very cheap on ebay.
Just switched to Ernie Ball hybrids. Also nice. Mike |

I use 10s for the same reasons that Andrew gives. However one of my heros (Allan Holdsworth) uses 8s on some guitars and up to 11s on others. So it's largely both a question of personal preference AND what works with the guitar . Find what works for you and your guitar is my best advice.
