Hi Phil,

On the same marchand site, you also have a squier affinity with HSS below the 200 pounds limit :
HSS Squier affinity

Too bad it is not white or black!

Thanks for looking for me buddy cool.gif

You'll never believe this but I've literally done a setup on one of those this very morning for a good mate!!!
What a cracking guitar for the money!! Played great with a very minimal amount of work!!

Thanks for that mate, I'm pretty much sold on it now. I'm thinking it's nice to have something different to any of my others to look forward to.

Cheers

Ordered the Jazzmaster, Andertons have no stock until May 17 so I ordered from GAK only £5 more but with a free cable, and either a tuner or gig bag depending what they have.

Job done cool.gif

Will do buddy, should get it on Tuesday, I'll put a sound test video up straight out of the box after a tune up obviously. Surprised it ships with 9s though, doesn't matter. If there's a bit of fret buzz, easiest fix is to put 10s on wink.gif

Well it's here and it seems like it was a waste of money laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I unpacked it, took it downstairs to show my wife and her eyes lit up and this happened:

Jo: OOOOH that's beautiful!
Phil: When I took it out of the box I thought to myself "I don't want to take this to the caravan"
Jo: Haven't you got an old one to take down?
Phil: No, that's why I bought this, to leave down there all the time.
Jo: Oh it's a shame, we can bring him back every time we come home. (Gender assigned biggrin.gif )
Phil: No it's staying down there, that's why I bought it to have a dedicated holiday guitar with no sentimental attachment!
Jo: We can't leave him there on his own, it's a shame. (Eyes now getting watery)
Phil: We'll see what happens.

My wife has an uncanny way of getting attached to things very quickly rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Anyway, plays lovely right out of the box, no setup needed (yet), was seriously detuned but I am very very impressed. No sharp fret edges, lovely feel, no twisted knobs like my last Epiphone, when you turn the knobs you can see they're leaning one way because the bottom edge goes up and down as you turn them. Lovely lovely piece of kit and it looks like a new addition to my collection laugh.gif laugh.gif

It came with a Fender gig bag and a Stagg 3m (10ft) cable all for under £200 delivered.

Some quick sound demos, excuse the mistakes wink.gif All taken with vol and tone on 10.

Direct into Scarlett, no fx at all same little chord progression bridge p/u first then mid-position then neck.

Big Lead through TH-U bridgep/u
https://soundcloud.com/gmcphil-1/big-lead-bridge

Plexi 12 bar bridge p/u
https://soundcloud.com/gmcphil-1/plexi-12-bar-bridge

Any test you would like me to do just ask.

Cheers

Stay safe.

I think they've raised their game with Squier guitars, I had an Affinity Strat many years ago and it was nothing like this guitar. I love it cool.gif

My wife couldn't care less about my guitars laugh.gif She refers to whatever the current fave is as my "new girlfriend".
I have a couple Squiers that I love. I changed stuff out over time: pickups, tuners, pots and jacks but not because what was in or on there was bad. I just had better parts laying around that I eventually put in them. I adore the Shell Pink 'Cyclone' that I recently picked up and my favorite thing about it is that I can just leave it out in my little (un-isulated) studio and it's fine. It's what I used on that "open chord jam" video that will probably be the next collab.

I love this guitar. Good tuning, good sound and obviously great sentimental value.

That's awesome Gab, not being sexist, but it's unusual for women to have those skills, nice one cool.gif

Re that Warrant song, I've never heard it before but I can see similarity in the first few notes, though the execution is somewhat better on the YT vid laugh.gif Good spot though mate wink.gif

UPDATE: Just listened again and noticed that Rosalia Spratt put a "WOW" comment on the Soundcloud waveform. That's a first for me, someone saying "wow" to my stuff smile.gif
