Hello GMC !
Welcome to my first collaboration.
I have created a backing track that uses harmony from D natural minor scale Quick reminder how does harmony in D natural minor look like : D min , E dim, F maj, G min, , A min, Bb maj and C maj.
Tempo for this backing track is 120 bpm.
The chord progression is pretty easy to listen and play around with.
Over first part you can use D natural minor (aeolian mode) or D minor pentatonic as well as D blues scale !
Second part of the backing you can use G dorian mode! (comes from D natural minor just starting from G note 
Other things you can use are Arpeggios, Sequence, Repetition, Motive development and many other things 
Listen to the backing track, try to play something over it and let me know how its working out for you.
About collaboration :
- If you are interested and want to sing up, just respond on this thread or send me a private message - whatever is easier for you
- I think up to 20 participants is realistic number so that I can give you in depth analysis of your solos and playing and provide good feedback for everybody. Edit : Since we have reached 19 participants in less than 4 days, I will keep the collaboration open for anybody willing to participate until Wednesday 19th.
- The deadline for signing up is a week from today which is Wednesday 19th . It would be great to have your takes by that day too. However if that's not possible , I will expect all the takes by Monday 24th latest.
- Regardless of your level of playing I expect to hear something from you. Solo using whole notes if you want but have fun in the process and something will come out worth listening !
- You can post your takes here or in the uploads thread here http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=21458
Either way works as I will keep track of this thread frequently.
Having said all of the above , here is the backing track.

Just to be clear you can do D natural minor scale here or D minor pentatonic or D blues scale.
I was talking about G dorian scale which is actually the same as D natural minor scale.
D natural minor is : D E F G A Bb C (D)
G dorian is : G A Bb C D E F (G)
As you see its the same scale just starting from different note

I set my alarm to 5 a.m. It rang, but I heard it at 6 a.m.
So, I just read few pages... The test, however, was pretty ok. Maybe I get 8 out 10. Today, I also played with the school orchestra for the Grand Duke who visited our school. It was pretty funny! I´ll record my take as soon as I get something down.

In couple of days 18 people signed up and 8 already submitted their takes in uploads section. There is 2 more slots left if somebody is still interested.
I will wait until Wednesday for more sign ups and then I will get to final mix and comments for everybody.

If thats too early we can extend it to friday or weekend. So far there have been many cool takes but I don't want to rush any of you guys. 7 - 10 days should be resonable time frame to record something!

OC gave you cool advice regarding that
When I click on it , something pops up and ask me if I want to Open it or Save it . I always choose save it and it saves it on my Desktop. From then on I can play as many times as I want.
I use Mozilla Firefox as web browser.
Hope that helps.

Guys I made couple of minor updates on the collaboration to help you all out.
First thing is we already have 19 of you in . In the beginning I said up to 20 participants but now I will extend that because there is 3 more days before the deadline ends and we might have more then 1 person interested to participate.
Having said that , I am leaving collaboration open until Wednesday 19th. If we get 50 people I will grade 50 people and it will be just like one great seminar and studio masterclass where you can all learn from each other takes!
Second update is about your takes. I have moved the deadline for the uploads for Monday 24th simply because some of you will be on business trips or have school work to do during the week. So you get extra following week to record everything and submit it by Monday 24th.
I will now go to do in depth analysis for takes I have received so far.
Hope this was all clear and made sense. Have fun jamming with backing track ! (you can record improvised solo or compose one - your choice!).

I think waiting for the final mix is probably the best part about collaborations - other then recording the actual takes
I am also very excited to hear how everything will come out and if I could I would mix it all tomorrow so waiting is killing me as well

I worked on it Sunday and wrote down a few melodic ideas I had but when it came time to play them my hand became sore quick. Not sure what I did to it but it has bothered me off and on for a few days. I probably slept on it funny
Should be fine in a few more days and I will be able to give you a track this weekend (or sooner) if that is cool with you and everyone else in the collab. Sorry to hold things up guys.

Due to the fact that lot of members were interested to participate I left the collaboration open until wednesday.
Deadline for takes is Monday 24th so you have plenty of time.
Don't worry take your time, enjoy the jam and send me something when you feel like it !

I´ll record my take with a camera and give you the audiofile (video is going to be uploaded on youtube). However, we´ll have the backing track in the back. So, there will be no take without backing track. I could try to do it, but I think it would be completely out of time... I´ll give you my take on Saturday, I think.

I mixed the track yesterday wrote the comments and before publishing the page I listened to your uploaded takes with backing track. I went crazy ! Some of the solos are not synched in the final mix and I have to redo everything. Grrrr
I promise by tomorrow or really late tonight things will be uploaded.

Oh no! How could it happen? Sorry to hear that. Good luck, though. I can publish the final mix right now but there will definitely be people not happy with syncing with original backing. So far I have heard that only on Canis take.
I will open up a new project and import everybody's solos with backing and just adjust levels.
It should be couple of hours.

take your time man. Sometimes mixing applications can do as they please.. My cubase decide to do strange things from time to time.
