GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Bandcamp Or Amazon

Does a band benefit more from CD sales made from certain retailers?
for example, if a smaller band has a cd available from amazon (or similar online stores) and bandcamp, would they prefer a sale via the likes of Bandcamp, would they get a bigger cut or does it not make much of a difference?

If I was thinking from the perspective of a fan, I would buy the musician's music from wherever it's available. If it's only on Amazon, then so be it.

I do, however, find Bandcamp really friendly towards musicians compared to Amazon or iTunes, but if you pay CDBaby $70, they'll put it on practically every strore, which is pretty sweet deal smile.gif

yeah, I like bandcamp. The cd's I have bought from there have clearly been sent directly from the band, which is cool in itself, I was just curious if a cd available on the likes of amazon meant that the band would receive a smaller percentage. I dont mind paying a bit more if it goes direct to the band.
