How do you like to hear bass ?? Played using a pick or finger style ? Played in slap style , or tapping ?? Whats your favorite technique and why ? This topic has nothing to do with my lessons , its just a general topic about bass playing

Depends totally on the style. Slap Bass for Funk, Finger style for Jazz and some metal and a pick for other heavier forms of metal.
My favourite bass though is slow but technical lines that don't follow the guitars. In our band the bass is the lead instrument and the 3 guitars and doing harmony stuff around it. This is one of my fav bass led songs. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5BBG5YTuYpc&...feature=related and this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=glF01ELfU0Y&...feature=related and this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zNauuexeMz8 last one http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iJM1TXeRYQY The greats This post has been edited by OrganisedConfusion: Jul 24 2008, 11:29 AM -------------------- Gear Guitars:- Caparison Horus Snowcloud, Parker Nitefly M, Parker Nitefly SA, Gibson SG, Parker P10e, 40 Year Old Spanish Acoustic Amps:- Framus Ruby Riot 2x12" stack |

Do you like fingerpicking over regular picking or vise versa ?
Slap is the coolest thing in my opinion which you can do on bass Tapping can be interesting too I love the funk bass played fingerstyle ! -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

I like Tapping like Patrice Guers from Rhapsody is using on the live DVD I s so col He is an awesome player! I saw him playing with three fingers and I was amazed with his muting technique and how he built grooves with percussive muted notes inside, it sounded really impressive.. interesting bass player I play bass on our songs with a pick. I can do slap guitar without a pick but am not great at finger style. I prefer the tight sound of picking. Finger style can be more uneven but that works well in a lot of genres. Yeah pick has a lot of advantages..It tight and precise sound can't be emulated with fingers...(unless you play with nails of your fingers when doing fingerstyle)..I couldn't imagine songs like Schism from Tool played without one This post has been edited by Bogdan Radovic: Jul 25 2008, 02:55 PM -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net
