Hey guys! I just found the new track from Offspring that seems to be a joke to today's radio stations music. Some people is loving this song and some other ones hate to find Offspring singing a song like this one. My opinion is that the song is really good.

Never heard of that but this has been on few times in Finnish Radio Rock. Reminds lot of Foo Fighters.
Kinda poppish but that dudes voice is so good.

Some people just don't get the Offsping's humor
I think it's a cool song, and it mixed well with their older material when they played it live last weekend. I think it's a cool band with great songs.
How about doing a lesson in their style, Gabriel?

Yeah! I just listened to this song and I think that it's a mix of Times like these and Learn to fly... I like it.

Ok! I'll do it! They have many different styles in their songs... which style would you like to be covered? or maybe all?

That's right...I like their more punky side, like in "The Kids Aren't Alright" with a nice riff and a cool lead. I think this should make a great lesson. Ivan already did a lesson in their style which was more rhythm oriented and in their "old" style like "All I Want".

Not liking that first track at all Maybe it'll grow on me. The second is cool, but is cheapened as the start sounds so much like 'Times like these'.
Yeah Gab, the Offspring era which Gitarrero pointed out would be great!

As soon as the first 2 chords of that first song occurred I already knew what the next 2 would be... they used 'that' chord progression. I guess they need the money

It is like a poor imitation of things Bowling for Soup used to do, or even David Lee Roth way back when, without any element of fresh sound, or any of the charm.

Funny you should mention them
My band will play The Kids aren't alright for my sisters birthday...
As for the song.. I like it -> they usually have one or two "Joke" (funny) songs on each album -> Hit that, She's got issues, Original Prankster, Pretty fly for a white guy...
So even this song is very much their style... the're another song on their site from the upcoming album that's a little more "offspringy"..
Gotta run to a jam quick, I'll post a link when I'm back if one hasn't already been

yes, it's true... and it seems that the record label usually decides to use the joke songs for the radio and videoclip....
I also use to play The kids aren't all right with my band live...

I first thought they're mocking the top 40, because of the Teeny Bopper virus? lol
"Did you run into Snoop Dogg at the medical marijuana store? How did that title happen?”
“For whatever reason I felt kinda serious writing this record… there was a lot of serious songs and when we got close to the end I felt like I wanted to have a few kinda fun songs on it too because that’s both sides of who we are as a band. That song was really about where I live. I live in Huntington Beach and I’ve never written a song about what it’s like to go down on an average summer day in my home town.”
When asked if this was their Ice Cube “It Was A Good Day,” the duo laughed and responded, “Yeah, I guess it is… The white guy nerd version.”

I wonder how much pressure they get from the record company to have this kind of song on their albums to make sure they get mainstream radio play?

I also think that the song posted by Gabe is clearly a humor oriented one The Offspring have always had that up their sleeve - this one is just orchestrated so that it provides a true vibe of what they are trying to satyrize

Maybe I'm wrong but I believe that it's Offspring decision to include these type of songs... it's part of their style... and they are already rich...
