I really dig that E-II Eclipse sparkle. Sharp weapon.

In a topic here recently we discussed active pickups and both Todd and I thought they sound best (as in more organic) with single-cut designs.

Pre-covid I played an Eclipse with EMG's and also a friend of mine bought a thin body Gibson Les Paul. Not being a Les Paul player, I really liked both even though the neck may be a bit chunky for some shredders (but not too thick either).

My luthier on the other hand dislikes them. Not about the quality or sound but says cause of the body shape you still have to deal with imbalance like a typical Les Paul and also their used values are pretty bad.

Also, there's prejudice to these designs almost religiously among many guitar players cause of the thinner body.

I have a EC-1000, it suffers like a Gibson with the g string going out of tune. I thought it was mine, but as I was in the shop having a graph tech nut installed ( which did not help) , the luthier and I found 2 others in the music store which did the same thing , this was about ten years ago so they might have fixed the problem. So if you don't want your guitar out of tune when do a bend/vibrato, i would double check this. The EMG sounds great though

Just out of curiosity, how bad is it?

Like does it less likely happen as the string ages, happens with every bend...?

The sparkle colour is great BUT if I am not wrong it's the only one that does not have an easy access neck, while the LTDs (which are cheaper) have.

i would not track a Zack Wylde type rhythm track or any kind of solo. I can't sell it as I could not in good conscious. So i delegate to a guitar I tune out of normal for inspiration

Thanks for the heads up, I'll definitely keep this in mind!

Edit; Also if you haven't yet try with elixir strings someday, they are the most slippery out there so might hold tune a bit better.

I think these pups might work quite well in this guy smile.gif Big chunk of wood seems to go well with an active tone stack for some reason.
