Does anyone play or has anyone [for a decent amount of time] played :

1. on a Mesa Boogie amp [ I'm desperate for a good vid or soundfile to see what the channels of one of these amps can put out]

2. an ESP Eclipse or the cheaper equivalent EC-1000 and what the difference is between them [ I'm so hooked by the looks , and I've tried EMG pickups on another guitar , that I'll want one of these as my next guitars - my current is an Ibanez 370dx ] I know Rammstein uses and ESP Eclipse and both at Metallica love their ESP's and come to think of it they also use MesaBoogie as far as I know, but that doesn't mean TOO much before I try the gear itself, but to be honest I love both Metallica and Rammstein sound a lot. Heavy-a$$ rhythm guitar there....

3. what other amps [or guitars / pickups] do you think work well with heavy distortion effects [ as I said , stuff like Metallica, or Manowar , Pantera - not suggesting they have the same sound - by far - just that I love em ] and high-gain delay-filled solos ?

4. can anyone give me some actual examples [ or links ] for some good effect processors or even stand-alone pedals/stompboxes - especially for the delay and distortion ?

I once played for several hours on both a MB Blue Angel and an old Mk1. I don't however think that the Angel's really an amp you're after so I won't comment on it. You might want to pin down a bit which MB you're interested in a little though as there is quite a bit of variation across the range - I think maybe the dual and/or triple rectifiers? Maybe also consider the Engl series - particularly the Powerball - if you're after modern high gain...

Cheers,
Tony

I do have 2 : 90 power amp biggrin.gif
And I just missed Triaxis V.2 on ebay.de,
guy had auction and then without any explanation sold it as buy it now. mad.gif

Tony has good point (as always smile.gif ), ENGL amps are really great,
sort of European Mesa and less expensive tho.

Edit: I guess any higher out humbucker shall do the job
and units like G Force,G Major,Eclipse(Eventide) are top notch.

+1 for the TC effects and the Eventide Muris smile.gif. If I had the case I would definitely get the Eclipse, everything I've seen and heard of/from it it is maybe the best rack effect I've heard for guitars - sadly just don't have 1500UK psare sad.gif .

Shame to hear about the Triaxis - sure another one will come up soon though. Have you looked at the Engl 580 recording preamp as an alternative - that plus a good paramertric eq might be able to do all the Triaxis plus a bit - and it's midi programable - for about he same price?

Cheers,
Tony

G Major is a good rack mfx unit Pavel smile.gif .

My wife's favourite Eventide rack unit is this one .

She uses it all the time in radio broadcasting. So much so I'd like to say that she swears by it but ...

...it wouldn't let her wink.gif rolleyes.gif .

the line 6 dl-4 is a pretty good delay pedal. you can dial in 4 different delays and make them presets. it has a 13 second loop sampler and a tap tempo. its gotten great reviews. ive always gotten good delays from mine.

Also I wanted to ask if anyone has any experience or opinion about this multi FX proc. from z00m - G 9.2tt.

It has two 12AX7 tubes, a lovely HUGE amount of features like USB connectivity, the usual full array of amp, cabs and popular effect simulations, and all the other sound quality things it boasts, and it has CUBASE software included.

I already have a z00m G2 pedal , and I loved it so far, some of the sounds appeared a bit fake or off but there was ALWAYS room for more tweaking - very deep editing with these zoom pedals, but then again I'm not that experienced for a complete opinion on it's qualities. The only thing I was still looking for was a really heavy tone - Pantera style, but I guess in the end my amp is garbage as well smile.gif a blues - oriented horribly cheap 50w amp. My z00m G2 has a couple of buttons blocked but it's amazing it hasn't fallen apart from all the punishment it's taken.

So hopefully someone will have used a zoom G 9.2tt and I could hear their opinions on it. It may still be overkill for my barely intermediate guitar playing level but I DO want more than the G2 and I'm quite serious about this so I hope I can find a reliable effects pedal. Heard about the LINE6 ones as well - any opinion between the two ?

ESP makes great guitars, I played the Eclipse II, and from what I can tell, the differences between the EII and the EC1000 is mostly cosmetic, perhaps the difference between the LP Studio and LP Standard. I know one difference is the tuners, and you can get 24 frets in the 24 3/4" scale, while the EII is 22 frets in 24 3/4" scale.

As for amps, check out Hughes and Kettner, Engl, or perhaps even Krank.

I highly doubt Zoom can make Tube sound at all. I had some small experience with Zoom - didn't like it at all!

Remember - cheap multifx's, and multifx pedals in general - mess up the sound on high volumes.

That's why there are G-Major, G-Force and similar stuff. It's high quality and highly priced for a reason.

Make sure to try whatever you are planning to buy.
