Welcome to my 4th collaboration at GMC called

MentholWhore collaboration

Attached Image

Time for the inevitable Metalcore collaboration, based on my Metalcore Chops #1 Lesson. Let's do some modern rocking! Play whatever You like as long as it's....metal! Listen to some modern bands like Killswitch Engage, Bullet for my Valentine or Trivium. You can also base on Your own influences and add some different flavour.

The backing track is in the key of C# minor (Same notes as E-major). You can imagine, You play the E-major scale if Your guitar is tuned to standard E. For those of You who already have guitars tuned to drop C# - You can use basic e-minor shapes.

Important - this time it's a VIDEO COLLABORATION

Please send me a videos of You playing over the backing track and add the separated audio files with only the solo (best if You'll be able to record guitar separtely in any DAW like Protools, Reaper etc). I'll do the mix using part of each solo to get the "minute of greatness" \m/

Devil himself supports this collab (Couldn't resist to upload when I saw the daw session file size biggrin.gif )

Hello Darius.

I've never participated to such collaboration here at GMC. But I think it's a nice opportunity to work on composition and adapt to a proposed backing track!
So the concept is that we record a lead/solo for this BT, and then you will take a part of each participant and mix them one after the other, is that it?

Is it possible to record only a part of the song?

I am quite interested, I'll try to make some lead tonight ! biggrin.gif

Arthur

Here are some ideas that I'm playing around with trying to get them up to speed, there are some timing issues in this recording but it's just ideas at this stage. I'm totally open to any suggestions anyone might have.

Patrick - this is very good way to go through smile.gif Nailing the solo with the backing guitars is a great concept. Melody fits metalcore playing as hell ans nice phrygian dominant add. I would only suggest to leave the muted 6th string at the beginning. Maybe try to play thos higher notes (3rds) as a long, sustaining notes in the same moments. Just replace the muted string places with sustain from the melody and this would fit perfect smile.gif

Hello dude,

I did a little try on it! Very fun backing track hehe
I had to slow down the tempo a little bit for the moment... smile.gif

It starts at 0:38.

Hello Darius,

Thank you, I'm glad you like it!
I have not forgotten about the video. It's just a draft here, I'll record it again cleaner. However, I had to slow down the tempo, I'll have to work a bit in order to reach your track speed !

Ps: Thank you for the soundcloud. Btw, it's not up to date at all!
