Just a quick input.
There are 2 ways in practicing. 1st,going for entire lesson or music piece,no matter what. 2nd,to learn only licks you're most impressed with atm. Both ways are fine imo,the goal is to make a progress in your playing. -------------------- Youtube

So Muris, I got through the rest of the Lydian Phrasing lesson today and I am really gonna have fun working on this. One question though. How in the !@!@#$# did you ever learn to alternate pick that string skipping section!!!! There is no way I'll ever be able to do that, not enough hours in the day to practice that Since you played it on a Jem I'm gonna have to play it Steve Vai style with the right hand over the neck to mute the strings Hopefully I'll have something to post in a couple of weeks, probably not full speed though Monte It's just practicing Monte,I did lot of skipping practicing, probably under influence by Paul Gilbert and his old VHS instructional videos. And yes,you WILL be able to play it sooner or later cause that is far away from ultra heavy licks, trust me!! Maybe you haven't worked on skipping enough and that causes you trouble right now. On the other hand I see your legato is very good. So,focus more on picking, give it some time,do not rush and result will be there,no worries. -------------------- Youtube

I tried it some months ago and was able to play most of it at nearly full speed. The most difficult part is the hybrid picking, but it's not impossible. What is more difficult is very relative. I didn't try this lesson, but I think I would go through they hybrid picking with no problem, but would stop on the speed picking... -------------------- my "Thank you GMC!" video
