Hi, my name ist Michael and I´m glad to find GMC. Since I left my hometown, Hamburg in Germany, over 20 years ago, I didn´t play my guitar. But now I think, I´m gonna start again.
I started playing guitar with 12 and played in different bands for studio works and gigs in clubs in and around Hamburg until I was 29. Now I will try to get my old bones in motion again. Never too old to rock, isn´t it?
So, nice to be here. Seems to be a good place, as far as I saw.
Greetings to all, and have a good time!
Michael

After reaching a level to play in studios & clubs, forgive me but I have to ask, why would you give it up for 20 years?

Hi Gary,

nice to meet you. At that time, there was no progress in my playing and I had a bad experience with my last band. I had to do different things and so I left town for a new part of my life.
Well, and I got married, but that wasn´t the reason why I stopped.. smile.gif But I discovered new ways to be creative, painting, art works with glass, taking photos an many interesting things more. But I feel, now it´s time to start again with my guitar.

Yeah, fact is that even though guitar is THE way for me to express myself, it'd be ridiculous to claim I'm giving it my all. I simply don't have the time to do so. There are things in life besides (and sometimes more important than) the guitar.

Welcome to GMC man, if you face any problems concerning anything (related to music, I guess... but other things are OK too biggrin.gif), just ask and we're here to help.

It's awesome and inspiring to see such motivation. I'm 20 years old and I feel like I'm too old to practice simple theory and picking... or something. biggrin.gif

Hi, thank you for your reply. I like to play - and listen to - different kinds of rock music. My hero was Jimi and I´m looking forward to a Popa Chubby concert in November in Hamburg. But there´s a lot of great rock music, what I like. But that doesn´t mean, that I could play all that stuff. At the moment I´m glad if I dont cut my fingers, if I play longer than 10 minutes. wink.gif

Thank you Ben,

what is neccassary to join that video chats? Camera? Microphone? Today I´m in Berlin, but when I´m at home I haveonly a very slow internet connection. I´ve always have to wait a couple of minutes, until I received a guitar lesson.

I think, I have to find out, what that video chats are, everybody is talking about? But first of all, I got to play some minutes longer until my fingers hurt, when I´m back home.
See you!

Hi Michael, you don't need anything yourself to watch video chats. All you need to do is click on the GMC CHAT button at the top right corner of the main page. It's next to the search bar. It will then take you to the chat room where there is a video screen. If there is a video chat occuring then you'll be able to see and hear the instructor. Users are able to converse with the instructor by typing in the text box at the bottom of the screen and pressing 'enter' to submit the text.

It can sometimes take a while to load the chat room or the screen.. if you have an intermittent internet connection then it may make video chats unwatchable sad.gif But try it and see if it works for you ! smile.gif

I've just started a thread explaining how to use the video chat function. This is there for all the other instructors and members to use if you ever want to help someone with the video chats smile.gif
