Rocking Tune Intermediate

Guitar: PRS Custom 24
Amp: Line6 HD500, Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Model.
Sonar, Sony Vegas, etc.

I've been working on this take for a long time, probably since just after I started at GMC. Notice that I did the faster part with legato instead of picking every note. For my ability, I had to do it this way, but at least that part of the song lends itself to legato pretty well. Instead of double picking the open G string I finished each part of the lick with a hammer on note. It sounds good this way even though I would have rather used AP here, but just can't seem to push my AP speed limit even to this sort of medium speed. As for the rest of the song, I think the best part of learning this was that it plays all over the fretboard and really gets you used to moving around.

My main criticism of my playing here is that it sounds a little bit rushed to me. Especially in the beginning where it's supposed to be "heavy sounding" with notes on the downbeat. Tell me if you agree or not with my assesment here, does it indeed sound rushed? Anyway, all in all, it turned out pretty good I think. I'm pleased with it for the most part. Looking forward to your comments...

tone is really nice! very good overall playing,

I would agree about the slight timing displacement, and also sometimes there's some slight intonation issues, very subtle, but worth mentioning,

those will 'correct" by themselves just by keep on doing it, practicing, but being conscious of them, listening carefully,

for instance, watch this video and notice where it is happening and pick up that bar and play it 10 times until the problem is gone,

Hey James!

That was an awesome take! I can tell that you like this tune very much, it's in your playing. I would agree with Daniel about the tiny mistakes but the overall is just great. I like your sound, too.

Cheers

I really liked your take smile.gif Maybe a little rushed at the beginning as you said but not for long. You might want to look at developing your vibrato and making it stronger but as for the overall performance, very good ! cool.gif
