Writing Out Of Time

I can play along to a metronome all day long but sometimes when i write my own stuff I will write out of 4/4

This has been something that has troubled me for many years. When i go to write new music I will play along to a click in my daw. The problem there is now it lacks rhythm and I seem to be playing on all the down beats.

Does anyone know a certain practice technique or something I can do to work on this problem? I would love to be able to construct guitar riffs and patterns knowing exactly what I am able to add and subtract and be in time.

Any help would be awesome!

Morpheus Droptune Pedal

Hey I was wondering if any of you ever messed around with the droptune pedal?

I had it for a while now and as far as practicing with it, I love it. If you arent famillar with it the pedal will drop your tuning down in 1/2 step increments down to a full octave. If you bend your notes it will still be in the correct pitch. Its great when you want to learn something in a different tuning and dont feel like tuning down. I use it live so I dont have to bring 5 guitars with me to a show.

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Rob and I am from Pittsburgh PA. I am a guitarist for an original/cover band called Twelve Noon. I joined here to help with some problem areas and to just get better all around. I started playing guitar when I was around 17 years old, I am now 33. I would say my main influences are Marty Friedman, Dimebag Darrell, Jerry Cantrell, Synyster Gates, and Robb Flynn. Equipment I currently use/own, Jackson SL1 Soloist, ESP (LTD) EC400, Gibson Les Paul Custom. For amps I use VHT Pittbull, Bugera 6262 and Line 6 HD100.

I consider myself mainly self taught and I need to get out of a rut that I have been stuck in. I want to learn how to shred like the best of them

My other hobbies include recording (Sonar x1 user here) and the Pittsburgh Steelers!
