I have been reading about tuning instruments to A 432 instead of A 440. It seems like the standard used to be 432 but changed to 440. I was just wondering if anybody here have tried to tune in A 432 hz and what your experience is?

I'm not sure about Dimebag but I read a few articles about the "conspiracy theory" of the tuning standard change. It's said that probably most of musicinas at those days didn't agree with this change. Also...432 Hz gives as full freq on many notes ...not like now where A440 is probably of of not many notes with a "round" value.

Also some people think that 432 was much more healthy for people. It even included some frequencies using to treat some sickness...it was somewhere around 500/600 Hz. Also the absorbtion of frequencies for 432 Standard in nature was in theopry better.

Check out some of those...I'm a fan of conspiracy theories biggrin.gif Of course...have a lot of distance to it smile.gif

I have never used 432, at least not consciously... tongue.gif but that video posted by Darius is interesting. It's something that could be investigated. However I prefer recording albums that everybody can learn and play along easily.

It made me confused too...I will have to make some test but...what can I can say for now is that some arguments for the 432 sounds pretty logic to me...

I did a test on the begining of a song, I lowerd the frequency with audacity to 432hz and played over and over again after a couple of times of listening the 440 actually sounded almost out of tune. Since I knew what was going on I tried it on my wife and daughter and after listening a couple of times they both liked 432 better. There might be someting to it, I haven't found any reason to why they changed it 440 hz.

If you do a session in the states ... and the studio piano is going to be used ... you'll generally find that it's at 441 or 442. Same thing with the tuning bells in the wings of most of the concert halls. A = 442
