GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Wireless System

Posted by: maharzan May 26 2012, 03:12 AM

Hi Guys,

The other day (few weeks), I saw a wireless system on sale on my local guitar shop. If I recall right its this system.

My setup now has wires floating around so I guess, it would be great to set this neat little gear. Do you use any wireless system? Please let me know which one. I would like to purchase one.

Thanks,
Chandra

I don't use a wireless system but indeed it would be neat to have one. What I wonder is how much it modifies the original tone of the guitar. It surely must have some effect on the tone right?

Most people say that you lose a bit of the tone through using a wireless system. I'm not sure if they mean sustain, brightness, thickness or what.. but that's the common opinion. Also you might pick up unwanted things like taxi cabs and police radios etc.. or at least you used to. Things may have improved a lot lately.

I don't know much wireless systems, I can only think of the make, NADY..

The cheapest one I have been a fan of is:

It is hard to find a cheap wireless system that doesn't damage the tone of a guitar or pick up interference. Although this is still expensive, I have seen Wireless systems peak at ludicrous amounts of money.

Something I recommend is removing the patch cable that the wireless system comes with that leads from the transmitter to the guitar and replacing it with something better. Since I am a fan of George L, that is what I would have to recommend; but it is unnecessary since they are expensive. Monster Cables and other brands should be fine.

600 bucks, thats pretty expensive. smile.gif

Thanks guys, I will research more and see if I should get one. I really hate having to put that cable everytime. smile.gif

Yeah, they were notorious for that ! biggrin.gif

On another note, did any of you guys ever pick up foreign radio stations on your guitar amps ? I had a little practice amp that sometimes used to pick up French radio stations ! laugh.gif

No, but I am in the States wink.gif

I picked up a lot of TV stations, though. I remember being at band practice when I was in High School and I picked up Spongebob Squarepants. We were sitting there discussing some part of the song we were writing when I heard Spongebob's laugh from my amp. We all just looked at each other and started laughing.
