Hey GMC, I currently have a Hartke Bass Combo Amp A100
Attached Image
and I was thinking if I could connect this bass amp with this cabinet
Attached Image
for dual speakers and have higher volume.
Would doing this damage my combo amp?
Thanks

Most likely yes if the combo is strong enough to power the aditional speaker and has the same ohms...

Well do you have extension speaker out on that combo ?? If yes , than you can probably connect two..Just check if you can if the extension speaker out is wired in series or parallel..If its in series you are good to go..If parallel you just need to check the ohm values of internal speaker and extension cab to match the output of the amp..

EDIT: OK now I went through the manual of your amp, you have on the back end of it SPEAKER OUT 8ohm in which the jack from the internal speaker is connect...So you won't be able to use both..But if your cabinet is 8ohm you can unplug the jack behind the amp (make sure amp is turned off) and plug there the speakers cable which will connect the external cabinet.(make sure you use proper cable , you can't use guitar cable for that!!)..I guess that 4x10 will sound much better than 1x15...

If you would be so kind to give us specification of your amp, what outputs you have in the back, what is the power rating and Ohm rating on the 15" that you already have, then we can help you.

What impedance is the output of your amp?
also, what impedance is the speaker?

If there's not a second output, you probably have to couple them in a serie, else you will half the impedance, doubling the powercurrent needed.

I read the manual and it says 8ohm...Thats a good idea , he can plug the amp directly to 4x10 cab and than from that cab if it has series connection option (by extending the internal speakers jack) connect it to internal speaker smile.gif
But make sure its series connection not parallel because it will half the load and may damage amp.

Sorry guys for not responding back (I've been busy)...well thanks for your responses...the cab and the combo are both 8ohm but I dont know the impedance.
There is a speaker output jack in the back of the amp of the combo, Can i use that with a T cable to connect both speaker in the combo and the cab?

Impedance is ohm value.Well I'm not very into technicality stuff but I'm pretty sure you can't connect them both that way...(and I don't recommend trying)
For start you can buy a speaker cable and disconnect the internal speaker and connect the external cab into the back of the amp..That way you'll get 4x10..If your cab is 8ohm your good to go..I'm sure you will like 4x10 sound better than 1x15 you currently play..See for yourself though if you like it.And you will get a volume boost too..

Seems to me, from the manual, that this amp of yours has 100W@4Ohm rating isn't that correct?

If that is true, with some tweaking you can make a 1x15&4x10 rig easily, because both cabs have impedance of 8Ohm Just connect them in parallel and you're good to go.

Take a look at the picture in the attachment.

Hope you find it useful mate, cheers.
