My power amp is 2x50watts stereo but i only have one speaker cab at the moment. How would i connect the power amp to my mono cab. Im not sure wether or not the amp is bridgeable so do i just hook up say the left channel only and use it? Or is there a Y adapter cable i can use to bridge the 2 sides? any help is greatly appreciated

EDIT: just thought of somthing else. My voodu valve preamp has stereo out, would it be easier to bridge the left right with a Y-adapter 1/4" cable and run that into one channel of the power amp section?

Well I'm not the electronics guy , but I would not bridge it, no way! Just connect the cab to one "out" of the stereo power amp..I don't get it , your guitar is mono , and when you connect to a amp your going mono..Do you use some stereo effects connected in stereo (delay, chorus ? ) ..

yeah i was thinking along the same lines as you. Some of the effects are stereo though and i was wondering if it would sound weird as mono.

Well if they are stereo you have to connect them in stereo (with two cables to preamp, amp)...
I'm sure they'll sound cool as mono too for live purposes , practicing etc..

thanks for your replies, i was just worried about wether or not it would be bad for the amp to use only one of its 2 channels for playing. Ill test it out tomorrow when it all gets here and see how it works out

Well one of your inputs on the stereo amp is surely a mono input, and one channel is a mono channel by default. Go through a manual to check out which one. I wouldn't experiment without manual or technical support from the manufacturer at least.

It's pretty simple actually, you just connect one output from you power amp to cab.
Left or Right,it's up to you.
Just be sure to turn volume knob fully down on unused amp channel,
I guess you power amp has separate volume knobs for both channels. unsure.gif

But you'll be missing some sound if you're using stereo effects tho.
So I would try to sell that mono cab, earn some buck and buy stereo cab. wink.gif
In a meanwhile don't use effects like ping-pong delay, mono delay is just fine for your current setup.

BTW,which power amp do you have, brand, model?

That is exactly what id did and it works like a champ. As for stereo cab's i could easily rewire the cab i have now for stereo but i dunno if 2 12's side by side would be the best option for stereo.

Thanks MickeM. smile.gif

Well then, your amp has separate volume knobs for channels,
just turn down the one you're not using and that's it.
Plus it's solid state and you have indeed small chances to damage it
by using only one channel. wink.gif
