Hello folks.

Can someone explain why he's saying what he says at the following points in this video please? Thanks (links take you to the correct point in video.

It's something I don't really understand in TH-U also, not all cabs give the option of Tube or SS.

Basically not every super cab has this feature. It's pretty much that simple as far as I can tell?

Yeah I wonder why not though.

Also, can you explain why he says what he says in those sections, he's going on about using solid state of you have a tube amp in the patch and tubes if you have just a preamp. What's that all about? I don't get why they have the option on any "cab" to be honest.

Cheers

Youtuber trying to make things simpler but fail cool.gif

All you need to know is poweramps have a sound to them, but if we collide 2 poweramps (one from amp emulation and the other from cab.) you'll have over-coloration which will mud the sound.

To prevent that the most colorless possible power-amp is preferred by not only overloud but any ir. library maker, which is the solid state in overlouds solution. But say you want to round the highs and mic. position change isn't working, then you can give that tube-poweramp a chance. Or maybe you want to stack 2 pedals with no amp for experimental reasons etc...

I can go on and on with digital emulation creativity...for example; some rig library patches are sampled with a pedal but still takes a pedal nicely (there are even presets like that) when inserted. Won't make sense in the analog world but sound just fine in digital, this is the beauty of possibilities we have with the computer.

Thanks Mertay,

Personally I'd rather that tube/ss option not be there at all, I don't understand why it needs to be on a cab sim and I don't understand why some have it and some don't.

No doubt some people will love it though wink.gif

Mertay has it wink.gif Basically it's just another tone option. He's just giving some advice on what might sound good. I would say just trust your ears. some cabs will have the option and some wont as it's just built that way. I can see it being a bit irritating in that it's not uniform across all the cabs.
