Hello everyone!

My name is Daniel. I'm a 27 year old "hobby" guitarist from North Carolina (USA) who's been playing off and on for about 11 years. Nothing fancy, no live gigs, nothing to brag about. I started off with a quick 5 minute chord lesson from a gospel band guitarist at a local thrift store/flea market. Afterwards I saved up a little cash to buy a cheap nameless (literally) guitar and a chord diagram book. Sadly I skipped all the important things like learning to read sheet music, timing, fingering...all the basics that I actually needed. So over the course of several years I've managed to learn by ear and pick up the rest by reading tabs.

I finally decided it was time to learn how to play correctly, and I stumbled upon this site. Lucky me! So I plan to take it back to square one. I know I have plenty to learn, and I look forward to joining (and maybe one day contributing) to this community. Once again hello everyone, and keep the good stuff coming.

And a special thanks to Mr. Kristofer Dahl for all the knowledge, time, and structure he's put into this community.

Welcome. I'm doing the same thing. I've played guitar for last 10 years or so but have decided to start over and learn everything correctly. This site is the place for it.

Hey, I'm in the same position. Learned all the wrong ways and I'm trying to make it right. It feels good knowing I'm doing it right this time. I've been playing off and on for 8 years or so and really want to challenge myself now. I pretty much stripped away all my previous knowledge and started fresh...I'm learning the 5 pentatonic scales right now.
